Terry
I needed a plan to avoid Trohman yet still keep an eye on him. He was charming and a woman could get lost in his looks if she didn't try hard not to. I puffed on my cigarette then realised I had quit six months ago and felt repulsed. I picked up my phone and dialed Pete.
"Dude, Joe is grating my tits."
"Come on Terr, he's not that bad."
"Pete, I'm smoking."
"Whoa, okay. What'd he say that set you off so bad?"
"He started asking personal questions. About my love life."
I heard Pete wince on the other side of the line and exhale sharply. "Okay, well the guys, they don't know much about you or the fact that we're friends. Or that you're secretly a..." Pete lowered his voice to a whisper, "a Trohmosexual."
I gasped, "you take that back right now Wentz!"
"Ah ha! I knew it! You're so into Joe!"
"Goodbye Peter."
I cut the call and killed my smoke. I readjusted myself, cleared my throat and walked out of the room set aside for smoking straight into Andy. "Oh hey Terry, I'm sorry."
I sighed, "no no Andy, I should have been paying attention to what I was doing. What are you going to get up to while we travel?"
"Ah, probably just relax a bit before the next show and play some games."
"Sounds good. I'll be in my room doing my reports. Will you give this back to Joe and tell him I'll replace what I've taken?" I said, handing back the box minus a few smokes for later and smiled.
He looked confused, "yeah sure. I didn't know you smoked."
I crinkled up my face, "nasty old habit I just picked up on again."
He looked at me sympathetically as though sometimes he felt the same way about Joe. "Don't worry. You'll figure it out soon dear."
As I walked away, an epiphany struck me. "Andy, you biscuit!" I ran back to him and hugged him and pecked his cheek to which his face turned a deep crimson. "What'd I do?"
I beamed widely at him, "you gave me an excellent plan. But I will need your help. Can we move Joe's beers to my room's mini fridge?"
He eyed me up and down, "oh... kay?"
After moving the beers to my room, it was a matter of waiting for my plan to work. I opened my laptop up and pretended to be working when I was really just organising my music files and ten minutes later, there was a knock on my door.
"Hey Terry. Are you busy?"
"A little Joe, yes. What can I do for you?"
He shuffled around, "well, Andy said you had the beers in here and I was just wondering when I could have one?"
"You know my rules Joe. 12:00 and you can have a beer. It's in an hour. I'll give you four then I'm cutting you off in time for the show."
He groaned, "okay so should I come back at 12:00?"
I laughed at him. "Joe, you aren't an alcoholic. You're just bored. Find something to do. I'll set a reminder on my phone and bring you your drinks at 12:00."
He shuffled off, feeling my dismissal, and closed my door behind him. I just had to carry this on until the end of the tour.
I thought I had won, until I heard the sound of Iron Maiden blaring through the tour bus. I genuinely thought it was Andy and was on my way out to ask him to turn it down a bit.
I was severely wrong if I thought I was winning this battle with Joe. He stood at the stereo smiling slyly. "Hey Terry, is there something I can do for you?" he said, throwing my own words back mockingly.
I was not about to let him win. "Yes, actually there is. Can you turn that up any louder? I love Iron Maiden!"
His smirk was wiped straight off that smug face of his as he turned it down to a rational volume and walked past me to the smoking area without a word.
