A burning pain in her collarbone brought her back to reality. Fairlight moaned quietly and slowly opened her eyes, still wet with tears. She was so weakened, cold chills ran through her body. She was lying in some lightened cool place on a stretcher with thick straps holding her waist and legs.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a black mop of hair to her left against the blurry ceiling. She was afraid to turn her head toward it, just breathing made her feel pain. She felt only that the creature next to her pressed something soft and wet against her collarbone.
It stung and hurt like hell. Fairlight felt dizziness.
A voice reached her from afar, but she didn't understand a word. Invicta next to her moved, answering "We are going back to San Diego."
San Diego? Why to San Diego? It's more than three hundred miles away...
Fear overwhelmed her. Her friends... The kids... Usain...
But then the first voice spoke again, and this time she understood everything. "As you wish, Prince."
The girl froze.
"Prince?" she whispered in horror.
Now she had to look at the Being at her side. A blinding pain pierced her head and shoulder as she moved, but just before the darkness consumed her again, she saw the wrathful obsidian eyes of the powerful Invicta Being.
