61. Darksen

There was a sensation of an upcoming storm. Darksen felt that everything he knew was just standing on the edge, and any moment now it was going to collapse and disappear.

Kendra was dead and he didn't expect her death to move him so much. He was unable to hide his shock when he rushed into the courtyard and saw the tragedy taking place there. Raysun's daughter couldn't heal her, no matter how much she had wanted to. With her desperate attempts to bring her friend back to life, she only harmed herself. Her body couldn't withstand the power she was trying to extract from herself to accomplish the impossible, and suffered a shock - the girl began to shake uncontrollably, the nosebleed seemed unstoppable, and then her eyelids fluttered, her eyes escaped into the back of her skull and she fainted, holding her friend tightly.

Last night he had created a portal to her cell, and once there, he himself hadn't known what the point of it was. Why had he come there? He had just stood over her and watched her as she breathed half-dead. The scintillam stone rested extinguished at the bottom of her pants pocket. He had guessed that she must have accidentally hit something, otherwise the stone would have remained glowing. He had reached for it and slammed it against a rock, lighting it. Darksen held the stone tightly in his hands for a moment, transferring his heat to it, and then put it in the girl's hand. Now it had been meant to provide her with warmth in this cold dungeon and a bit of light when she woke up.

A second day was already passing since those events. The girl was still sleeping, as if she had slipped into a coma, and Keiran hadn't been seen for some time. His father avoided him, but all the other Invicta at the castle kept an eye on him, especially after it came out that his snow leopard had healed his slave girl. Darksen searched for the cat, but when he didn't even find a trace of it anywhere, he began to suspect that his father had already captured his Beast and was exploring its capabilities somewhere in hiding.

He could feel the tension and frustration growing inside him, but he knew that now he had to focus on one thing - he had to get the girl out of that castle, out of that city, and most of all - out of the King's claws. Once she was safe, he would then find Keiran and send him somewhere far away from his father.

And when Thandor no longer had anything to experiment on, what would happen to him?
