that summer day

The sound of the pilot's voice was enough to waken Satoru, whereas Kimiko did not move a muscle due to being such a heavy sleep. He stirred awake, hearing the pilot announce that they would be landing soon.

This caused everyone to erupt into excited conversations, each of them being excited to finally get off the plane and appreciate the ground once again.

His eyes tired and mouth dry, Satoru furrowed his brows at the weight on his left shoulder before twisting his head to look at it.

Brows raised in surprise, he suddenly became unsure of how to react when his gaze landed on Kimiko who was leant against him, resting her head on his shoulder, fast asleep with soft snores still escaping her lips.

He immediately stiffened up, turning around again to glance over at Riko and Suguru who were deep in conversation, Suguru listening to her babble on about something that Satoru couldn't distinguish.

It suddenly hit him that his Suguru might look over or had already looked over, seeing his best friend and sister asleep against one another.

But in that second, Satoru could feel movement beside him and a small groan told him she was awake.

Kimiko didn't rush to open her eyes, wanting to appreciate the comfort she was experiencing before she would have to get up. She didn't need to look around to know that they were going to land soon, she could already tell from the conversations she heard around her.

All her senses were slowly coming back to her and soon enough, she was forced to open her eyes, it hitting her which position she was in.

She must of fallen asleep against Satoru, which was both awkward and embarrassing.

Kimiko didn't hesitate to shoot up, sitting straight and quickly clearing her throat, her cheeks a rosy shade of pink as they burned with embarrassment.

Despite how she woke up though, she had gotten amazing sleep and the flight had passed by extremely quickly.

She reached across to the window, pushing it open to see the city below them, her eyes lighting up as they caught sight of the beach.

The announcement to buckle up again didn't come long after that, which was when they began lowering to the ground, forcing Kimiko to try and keep herself calm for the landing. She was both nervous and excited, the excitement being the only thing to keep her from freaking out.

Then again, how much was there to be excited about? They still had yet to save Kuroi and might not even be able to.

But thinking about that wouldn't help, so she pushed those thoughts to the back of her head the best she could and kept her eyes on the window to avoid looking behind her in case she would be met with Satoru or Suguru's judgement.

Her ears occasionally caught a second or two of Satoru and Suguru's conversation they had suddenly burst into, but she did her best to keep out of it, not wanting to think about anything important like their mission. That was the worst thing she could do in that moment when waiting to land, it would only increase her anxiety and lead her to throwing up again. And although it helped a little bit the first time, she wasn't wanting to go through that again and wished she never had to.

The plane got lower and lower, Kimiko's grip on her clothes becoming tighter and tighter until her hands hurt. But she didn't dare let go, not until she knew they were okay.

Soon enough, the airport came into sight and they were nearing the runway below them, Kimiko's nerves peaking.

A hard impact all of a sudden hit the plane, jolting Kimiko until it calmed, which was when she realized that they were on the ground.
