Jesse was finishing applying her lipgloss, when her brother called from downstairs. "Let's go! I'm not waiting for your slow ass!".

"Then who's driving you home dumbass" Jesse replied when going down the stairs. Logan gave her a blank stare, just wanting her to go to the car. "Alright, I'm going" Jesse rolled her eyes when she passed him. Logan followed behind her, locking the house.

Their parents were away in Mississippi, visiting their grandparents, who were getting old. They had no choice but to leave Logan in charge. For Jesse, that would mean he would have some sort of order over her, and she couldn't complain to her mom or dad.

Tonight was a huge birthday party hosted by some very popular girl at their high school. Was this girl popular because she was friendly? No. She was rich. Rich houses mean rich parties, so basically everyone was going. Except Emma of course. Stuck at home sick. This meant Jesse had to sit in a corner the whole time, hating anyone and everything around her.

Logan drove them there, parking down the street. "You wanna look a little more miserable Jess?" Logan asked her as they walked up the steps to this huge house. Jess took a deep breath in before plastering a clearly fake smile on her face. Before Logan could tell her to 'actually look happy' the door opened, Hannah Milburn's face appearing. "Happy birthday!" Logan grinned and gave her that girl-boy side hug. Then he looked at Jess with pleading eyes.

"Happy birthday" Jess re-applied her fake smile. Hannah grinned for a second and then dropped it.

"Cmon in!" She ushered them both into the house, before disappearing from sight. Jess scoff-laughed before turning to face Logan.

"See ya. I'm gonna go raid her fridge" Jess claimed before walking away from him. This was how it always was. They would get through the door and separate. Logan telling Jess to call him if she needed anything, and Jess never doing it. Jess finding him at the end of the night, and driving him home.

Then Logan did his part, and found some of his teammates. However, Jess had already found the huge kitchen, including a stocked fridge. She found strawberry lemonade, taking it and wondering around the huge house. She passed a room and saw Logan drinking with his friends. Jess looked at the ceiling annoyed, knowing she will have to drive his loser ass home. She walked into the game room, seeing people talking and a few actually dancing.

She was about to sit down in a seat before someone bumped her sat down in it instead. Jess looked to see a boy with brunette hair sitting with a grin. Then she noticed his entourage starting to get behind him. She instantly didn't like this guy, based on his smile alone. "I was going to sit there" Jess says, staring him down.

"You can still sit. No one is stopping you" The boy said with a smirk. Jess gave him a disgusted look as she scoffed.

"Whatever asshole, go bother someone else" Then Jess turned around to walk away. She was one step into walking away when the boy got up and touched her shoulder for her to stop and spin around. "Don't touch me. I don't even know you" Jess looked him up and down.

"You can"
"I'd rather not"

"I'm Matt. Sturniolo" He grinned hard at her, expecting her to know who he was. Jess exhaled, not wanting to deal with an arrogant guy like him right now. "And your name?" Matt asked as he grew more confused. Usually, any girl would love if he acted like this around them.

"Did you not understand earlier when I said I'd rather not know you? Or what? Are you brain dead?" Jess crooked her head at him. Matt was appalled for a second. Never had a girl acted like this to him. He shook his head before trying again to talk to this girl.
