Charity dinner at 7pm Wednesday night. Be ready by 6.
-M.HadebeThat's the note Zethu gave to me after I got off the stage. No 'hi, hello, how are you'? Rude much. I sighed and got out of my costume. A hand grabbed my arm as I went out the back door. "Zitha". "Oh my fucking God, Lwazi you scared me," I said and he chuckled. "I'm sorry, scaredy cat," he said and I rolled my eyes. "I thought you couldn't leave the bar unattended," I said pointedly and he laughed again. "I wanted to catch you before you left," he said and I raised my eyebrow. "I was thinking... we haven't had a movie night in a while and I saw a movie you would absolutely hate but love to tear apart," he said this last part with a smirk and I couldn't help but smile back. "Soooo, how's Wednesday night for you?" he asked. Of course he had to pick Wednesday. "I'm sorry Lwazi I can't do Wednesday. I have this thing I have to go to," I said. "What thing?" he asked. "A thing," I restated and he burrowed his eyebrows. "Does this thing have to do with the guy who shattered the bar and hijacked us?" he asked. Explaining that had been so hard. "Lwazi -" I was cut off by the sound of a hooter. I turned around to see a black Chevrolet outside with a burly man standing outside of it. I frowned before turning to Lwazi. "Hamba," he said coldly. I opened my mouth to speak but was stopped by the cold look on his face. "Bye," I croaked and walked towards the car. "I'm sorry for rushing you ma'am. Mr Hadebe has asked that you be picked up from work every day," the guard said. Is Mkhonto out of his mind? "Thank you," I said as he opened the door for me. He got into the passenger seat and my eyes met Lwazi's as he stared while the driver drove away. My phone rang; Mkhonto - literally the last person I want to talk to right now. I declined it, then a second time and a third. Kanti doesn't he get the message. "Ma'am? For you," the guard passed me a phone and I sighed. "Mkhonto I don't -" I started but he cut me off. "Yindaba ungal'bambi ucingo, MaZulu?" he asked. I think Riky Rik was onto something - damn I love a Zulu man! "Evidently because I did not want to speak to you," I said lowly so the guard and driver couldn't hear me. "Uhlebelani?" he asked. "Because, idiot, I don't want your staff to hear me," I whispered and he laughed. "Trust me, they've heard worse," he said the mirth still lingering in his voice. "Mxm," I said. "Uyakhuluma MaZulu?" he asked. "No. What do you want?" I asked frustrated. "Did you get my note?" he asked. "Yes," I said exasperated. "I've arranged for a driver to pick you up after work every day. I've already spoken to your boss and gotten your schedule from her," he said. Oh my God, when I get my hands on him! "Anything else, have you perhaps colour co-ordinated my underwear?" I asked irritated and the driver coughed. Mkhonto ignored me and the only response I got was the hang up tone. Mxm.
