Another tedious Monday shift, the same thing as always. After work, Oliver headed over to Cody's old workplace for his usual free coffee before Darren picked him up and dropped him at therapy. But Oliver stopped at the door, seeing the 'supervisor wanted' sign in the window. Entering, Oliver looked at the wall by the door where it displayed the staff's names and photos. Underneath Assistant Manager was no longer Cody's grinning picture, but, instead, another supervisor who had been promoted, taking Cody's place, and there was now an empty spot underneath one of the supervisor roles. However, the group photo of the staff, with Cody included, was still up. Oliver eventually realised that Heather was calling his name. He jolted as he saw her standing beside him, hand hovering near his shoulder, knowing that Oliver did not like being touched in most scenarios.

Heather gave him a weak smile. "You okay, hun?"

Oliver nodded, his eyes instinctively glancing back to where Cody's photo had been. "Fine."

"Did you not know?" Heather asked hesitantly.

"I knew," answered Oliver, though he had learned it from Darren and not Cody himself first. But seeing the photo gone finally settled everything in Oliver's mind: it was becoming a reality. Cody was not going for a short time like they had all thought. Oliver had to start coming to terms with the fact that Cody might not be coming back at all.
