As I and Sana entered the living room, I found Abhi sitting on the couch, as if he was some sort of a ruler. Seeing us, he quickly stood up fixing his outfit.

"Uh-Huh! So, this dumbo finally learns how to dress up. You won't believe, Esha but he almost made me insane for choosing a proper outfit for him to wear in the party. But guess what, after such nerve-wracking hard work of mine, he didn't even look at the one I chose. Such a waste of time my brother is," said Sana.

In the next moment, Sana whispered in my ears, "But he is looking quite handsome, right? "

I couldn't help but laugh in my mind thinking about the catfights of this sibling duo. When I was lost in these thoughts, Sana grabbed my hand and started pulling me towards the entrance for getting in the car. But Abhi suddenly held my other hand from the back making us halt in our steps.

"Yah! Leave my bestie's hand. You brat. I won't dare to beat your ass up if I have to, for Esha."

"Sana, go and sit in the car. I am not going to do anything with your bestie. Your brother isn't that bad, my little sister. I have something to talk to her. We are joining you in a few minutes."

Hearing this, Sana gestured to me if I was okay with him alone, and I assured her that it was totally fine with me. Their parents were home when I reached. But they had left later for their business trip. I came to know about this from Sana. In spite of all these things, I could stay with him alone. Moreover, it was just a matter of few minutes.

As Sana went out, I looked at Abhi wondering what he has to tell me.

"Your dress is pretty. But the one wearing it is prettier and more gorgeous," said Abhi while directly looking into my eyes.

I was wearing a V-necked, light pink floral dress with quite minimalist makeup and some accessories and kept my hair open.

But being unaccustomed to such direct compliments and confessions, a red tint spread across my cheeks. I broke the eye contact and looked elsewhere to calm myself down. I felt so embarrassed when I found him grinning probably while looking at my blushing cheeks.

He started coming closer and finally stood in front of me. Too much tension arose in me due to such close proximity. As I looked upwards, I found him already looking at me with a little smile and his eyes full of adoration.

"How am I looking, Esha? Tell me honestly," said Abhi.

He was wearing a white tee paired with a denim jacket and denim jeans. Above all, he was looking both cute and handsome.

"You are looking handsome, Abhi. I guess you are dressed up for someone special, right? As Sana told me, you have put quite a lot of effort in choosing your outfit and being able to look so handsome," I said while laughing.

God knows what got into me that I said those words, but Abhi laughed and said, "Yeah, you are right, Esha. I actually put in a lot of effort for impressing someone special."

My heart clenched a little hearing that, but I put those thoughts aside and told him that it was getting late, and we should set off.

"Yeah. But before that, I need you to listen to some of my words, Esha. After reaching there, don't go anywhere without informing me. I'll try to keep an eye on you and Sana all the time. But if I'm not there, you & Sana should always stay together. Don't listen to anyone who is trying to provoke you. And don't agitate someone. Seniors of our college are basically quite cooperative, and this is the party for the freshers. So, you guys are the center of attraction, I'm well aware of that. But who knows what's going on in a person's mind and what evil intentions a person has. Accidents can happen anytime. So, remember, I'll protect you from anything and anyone till my last breath. You can rely on me."

I was quite touched by his sincerity and sense of responsibility, but his voice actually held a little possessiveness. Then something crossed my mind. As his sister's bestie, maybe he thought me too as his sister. Who knows? But whatever it was, I felt quite comfortable with him. At least I think I'm safe with him.

At the party

As soon as we reached, Sana almost dragged me to the big hall room where the juniors and seniors gathered. Some announcements were made about calling up the juniors for introducing themselves. After the introduction phase was over, one of us suggested to play truth and dare. The rule was "if someone is unable to perform a task as dare or answer a truth, then he/she has to exhibit any of his talents."

Soon, the game started. We were enjoying the game to the utmost. Only sounds of laughter could be heard in the hall. After a lot of turns, finally, it reached me. Being uncomfortable to answer, I sang. Singing is the best thing I can after studies and I'm proud of that. And this is the time to show off your talent.

Everybody enjoyed the soft tunes of "Taare ginn", I sang which is also my favourite song.

"Taare ginn
Taare ginn
Soye bin
Saare ginn.."

Looking up, my eyes unknowingly made their ways towards a pair of eyes already glued to mine, glistening with an ocean full of emotions. As if his eyes always attracted mine. His eyes were so very deep, I almost lost myself in that depth. I'm sure even the most beautiful being in the earth doesn't have such a beautiful pair of eyes. Even God doesn't know what he hides in those eyes of his. Like every time, I failed to decipher the pool of emotions hidden in his eyes. It felt like a missing piece. Once found, it completes every puzzle.

The music ended, the game gradually ended, now it was time for light drinks and dance.

Sana already found her partner and I was standing alone like a total fool not knowing whom to ask for being a partner.

"Can I have the pleasure to dance with this beautiful lady?" Abhi asked extending his hands towards me. I gladly accepted his hands, and we commenced dancing.

The music was on. We swayed our bodies along the rhythm of the soft tunes of the music. My soft, tiny hands surprisingly fitted so perfectly in his large, rough hands that it felt like my hands were molded to fit in none but only his hands. His other hand held me protectively by my waist and pulled me towards him as close as he could. But his single touch is enough to set fire in my body. I, being shorter than him, was almost engulfed in his arms.

Each time I stepped into his feet with my heels, I knew I hurt him too badly, might be rather worse than I could even imagine. But as soon as I looked up to apologize, he chuckled looking at my apologetic face and mumbled close to my ears in his deep, raspy voice, "It's absolutely fine, Esha. You know, you are doing nice. Don't even think that you are hurting me. Just follow my lead. Okay?"

I hummed in response and tried to cooperate with him as much as I could. He swiftly swirled me around and I perfectly landed in his embrace. Then I heard others cheering for us and I felt the spotlight on us. As soon as the dance ended, I was so driven by their compliments that I felt shy and badly required a place for hiding myself.

I don't know if Abhi read my mind or what, but he came forward and suddenly hugged me and buried my head in his chest. Caressing my back, he whispered, "Let's go Esha, the party has almost come to an end. Take Sana, bid goodbye to everyone & come to the parking lot. And I'll drop you to your house. It's late at night, it's not safe for you to go alone at night. And most importantly, I've something to tell you."
