I could never fathom what it meant to be a normal student. I was never nervous for my first day of school because I had gone through it so many times. However, since circumstances have changed, I guess I can be nervous. I never knew that I could be nervous because my mother and father had introduced me to their world and many others so many times before that I had never once had a moment where I was scared of something.
But here I am looking at myself in the mirror for the millionth time, making sure that everything was in check for the first day of school. I looked normal, I mean there was no way to really stand out because the dress code in this school was so strict. I was wearing a white button down top, with a tie around my neck and a navy blue plaid skirt. This was paired with a blue blazer, gray knee socks and my black combat boots because thank god this place did not care about the shoes a student wore. Jeez, I felt like I was one of the characters in the show Wednesday. Although, if I were to be a character, I would be Enid because let's face it, the OTP of that show was not Wednesday and Tyler or Wednesday and Xavier, it was her and Enid.
Anywho, me thinking about my first day of school and relating it to a fantasy thriller show is not going to help me calm down. Instead, it was probably going to make me more delusional because I wouldn't be able to tell fantasy from reality.
I straightened my tie and skirt once more before I went downstairs for breakfast. Being the first one there, I decided to help Dalia prep the table and even fed the house dog. Yes, you heard it right, we had a house dog. Well, it was Dalia's but it seemed really attached to me for some reason. I didn't mind. I had always wanted a pet, but with the constant moving, I wasn't able to get one.
"Good morning Cafal." I said as he ate and I gently stroked his fur.
I got up and went to prep the table as all the others were slowly starting to trickle into the dining room. Everyone was having their own conversations as I ate silently. Since the awkward silence was killing me, I finished up quickly, said my thanks and left the table.
As soon as I got out the main entrance, I heard someone rushing out behind me. I turned to see Parker running toward me as he was putting on his backpack.
"Alice, wait." He said as he caught up to me.
"Why don't we walk to school together?" He was a little bit flustered at this. I mean it's not like we had the same schedule was it?
"I mean uh... what is your first class today?"
I let out a small smile before I answered him. "No need to be so formal with me, you can speak comfortably. My first class for the day is.." I paused as I took out my schedule and looked at it before continuing to answer, "comparative literature, the kings and queens of England and other myths and legends. That's quite a strange class. Not really typical for a high school huh?"
Parker laughed a little bit before answering me, "Oh well that is your elective. And it just so happens that that is my first class too. Oh and it's Mason's so he'll be tagging along right about..." He paused and I heard footsteps approaching from behind again. "Now." Parker finished as the person who practically hated me stood in front of me with a scowl on his face.
I was about to apologize to Parker and walk away but he put his arms over both of our shoulders and walked forward, dragging the both of us with him to the hall which I assume we are having our classes in.
"Dude what the hell." Mason said with a slight tinge of anger in his voice. "Let go."
"All I want is for us to get to class on time and sit together. That isn't going to happen if we all walk at different speeds and dislike each other." Parker said mischievously. "Therefore, I have decided to take it upon myself to take all three of us there at the same time. I'm pretty smart right?" He asked rather confidently.
