Mason POV

I could only watch as the girl before me was mortally wounded. I watched her fall to her knees and collapse onto the floor as the sword was pulled out of her abdomen. Running to her as fast as I could with tears staining my cheeks, I held onto her. She held onto my face and I saw the light fade from her eyes. The scene faded from there.

I jolted into an upright position. I put my hands over my face trying to steady my breathing.

I could only breathe heavily and unevenly as Merlin had shown me yet another nightmare. "Merlin I've seen enough, can you just let me sleep?" I asked, almost begged, as I held my head in my hands. "You have yet to see anything." He responded coldly.

The door to my room slammed open and soon I was entangled in Lydia's arms. "You okay?" She asked me.

I laughed. "It's the same old, same old. He's getting more restless as time goes by. He calls her just as much as I want to reject her. Could you please?"

"Of course."

I laid down while Lydia put her hands over my eyes. Soon I could feel my consciousness slowly drifting.

Alice POV

A sword. A stone. A man in a cloak.

And... a teenage girl standing in at the break of dawn before both.

"Becoming a king means that you will cease to exist. You will no longer be human, but the leader of Britain, a king that kills to protect. Do you still wish to take on this role?"

Hesitation was plastered on her face before she placed her hands on the hilt and proceeded to pull the sword from the rock. It came out so easily as if it was natural to do so. The instant that sword came out, it was as if she was something else entirely. No longer a human, she held up the sword in the light and a dazzling blue color radiated off of it before fading as she admired the blade.

"I was born not to be human in the first place. I am merely embracing this destiny as I deem fit."

The man smiled sadly. "From this day forward, you will be king, Arthur Pendragon."

Gasping, I woke before the sun rose. I sat myself up in my bed and looked at the clock to see that it was 5:36AM. Yes, that is exactly the time that I would like to be awake. And yes, I did think that sarcastically. I looked toward Gwen's bed to see that she was sound asleep. I pulled myself to the bathroom as quietly as I could, dressed myself and got ready to go out. If I couldn't sleep, then the best thing to do is to be active right?

I went back into my room to grab my backpack and I sprinted out through the front door to, I don't even know where. All I knew is that I felt restless and I needed to do something out of a house that gave me some sort of anxiety. I just kept running until I found myself in front of the greenhouse once more.

Was it magical? Who knows? All I knew was that my feet brought me here for some reason. Was it because of my dream?

A clear image of a woman with blue eyes just like mine flashed through my head. All I could think about were the words that were said.

"From this day forward, you will be king, Arthur Pendragon."

Arthur Pendragon, the king that all kings strived to be, was a woman. Moreover, she was the woman that had been in my dreams all this while.

I still stood silently in front of the greenhouse. Unhesitantly, I pushed open the door and ran straight in looking for the grave site. Unable to feel my legs anymore, they gave out and I kneeled in front of it, staring at the name on the stone.
