Riley's Pov:
He has done it again. The great lucas friar has broken my heart for the 4th time this year. High school was supposed to give me more freedom, yet I feel so trapped by this boy. It's like he has me on replay. My bestfriend Maya Hart said I should just forget about him. But how can I forget about Lucas when he has given me so much to remember?
I am snapped out of my thoughts as my teacher, my father himself, calls on me.
"Riley, I asked what major event happened in the 1930s. Do you have an anwser?"
"I don't know, war?" I replied. I could have said the exact answer, but I did not feel like applying that much effort.
"Close enough..." says my dad, who ends up having my old friend Farkle Minkus explain everything. Farkle and I aren't that close anymore, but i wish we were. He would tell me that I deserve better than friar, make me feel better like he always used to. But, he hasn't talked to me since I officially started dating Lucas in the fall of freshmen year. One year, and I miss talking to him so much, yet he is right here, sitting behind me.
Then, I notice the other boy, behind Maya, who no longer puts her elbow on his desk. He is there with that same irritating smirk on his face. Lucas Friar, my kryptonite. He's the one I'll go crawling back to, no matter how strong my efforts are to stay away.
The bell rings. I get out of the classroom as fast as I can, with Maya right behind me.
Lucas' Pov:
This game never gets old. Let her loose. Let her back. It's a continuous cycle. No matter how many times I break Riley's fragile, little heart she comes crawling right back to me. My bestfriend Bradon finds it pretty amusing how I have Riley wrapped around my finger. But, come on, it's pretty believable considering that I'm THE Lucas Friar. I will be seeing Riley again in about 7-10 days. Dang, that girl is very impatient.
Mr.Matthews calls on Riley, who answers in her annoyed, sarcastic voice. Her sass makes me put on my flirty smirk, which she usually loves, while we are dating anyway.
She turns around for a second to look at my old bestfriend, Farkle Minkus. I never knew what really happened with him. He stopped talking to me after I started dating Riley. Oh well.
Then Riley turns and looks straight at me. She looks pretty annoyed. But in a week, that face will be right against mine.
The bell rings and she's off. Faster than secretariat. Riley should join track and field. She really knows how to run away from things. But, she'll always come back.
Boy, it really doesn't ever get old.
