Hiiiii. So this chapter is a little short but helps lead to something with Riley and Sparkly Farkley. I already have the next few written and they're pretty intense but so much better. I hope ya like it.
--------------------

Riley's POV:
Running. All I can think about is running. I feel  my feet hurrying to keep up with one another, and it seems as if my legs are trying to catch up with my brain. How did that happen? How did I let that happen? I promised myself that nothing good would happen with Charlie. Was that good? Was is bad? I don't know. I just need to keep my eyes on the street signs, the sidewalk, and the traffic lights. Orchard Street. Linen Ave. The streets pass as I run. I'm going so fast that the wind is making my eyes tear up. Or is that just because of my thoughts. Maybe both? I don't know and it doesn't matter because I'm here. Bleecker Street. I run around the alley and onto the fire escape. I start to climb the steps up to my floor. I get to my window but I don't go in, I stand up and walk over to the railing. I hold onto it, looking over the city. What happened tonight?

-2 hours earlier-

"So remind me again what we're doing." I say, looking over to Charlie, who's glancing up and down at his watch.
"We're doing nothing-"
"How romantic." I say, checking the time on my phone.
"You didn't let me finish, Riley. I meant nothing yet. But as of-" he looks at his watch-"right now, we're having a blast."
"How did 20 seconds change 'nothing' to 'a blast'?" I say, confused, which is honestly how I've felt this whole day.
"Turn around." He says, smiling widely. I quickly follow his instructions and turn on my heels. What I see is not at all what I imagined would be in front of me.
"A carriage? With horses?!" He nods confidently, as if knowing that I would've loved it. But this had been I dream of mine since 7th grade when I first discovered love and understood why carriages were used in every fairytale. And he knew that.
He opens the door for me and we climb in. I bend over to pet the horse while the elderly driver asks:
"Where to?" I immediately think of Titanic the movie and I desperately want to say, "To the stars", but instead I find myself saying, "Times Square, near Evergreen Diner."
"Yes ma'am." The old man says with a wink. I laugh a little as he turns around. As magical as it is, I still don't feel right. Would I if I were with Lucas? Or maybe Farkle? I don't know. But I don't like it.
"Charlie, I know I said I would do this but I-" he completely interrupts me with, "Riley, what now?" I look up. We're stopped. Short ride. And yet not short enough.
"Wait, I know!" He grabs my hand and sprints across the street, completely ignoring the oncoming traffic heading our way.
"Charlie.." I yell at him, well more like a whine.
Again he ignores me and keeps running. I'm so close to just turning around and walking home. Which would only take a half hour so, why not?
But I keep on walking.
"Come on." Charlie says. He leads me down an alleyway behind the diner. Why would he do this when we could just eat there? But the next thing I know were seated at a little cafe somewhere. Huh. Charlie's talking about some time in middle school when he drove a car. I don't even know. But I'm honestly just too tired and annoyed to do this anymore.
"I've got to go." I say, standing up and pushing in my chair. I grab my bag and start to walk out.
"Riley wait." I hear his chair being pushed in and his footsteps.
I turn to tell him that I'm done but instead I crash into him and end up pushed against he wall. I swear my face is less than an inch away from his.
"Hey." He says. He leans in and his lips just barely touch mine. But they do. I push him away and start running as fast as possible before I even realize what happened. I hear him calling my name and his voice fades until it is completely gone. Yes that happened. Shit.

-present time-

Okay I've decided. It wasn't a good thing. In fact it was a terrible thing. I'm still outside my window staring off my balcony. My phone buzzes in my pocket and I pull out my phone. 1:42 A.M.? I've been up here for two hours thinking. I open my messages to find a text from Farkle: 'How did your date go?'
I reply with: 'I don't think you can call it a date. More like a train wreck.'
Before he can respond I decide to call him, save some time from typing. He instantly answers: "Hey Riles."
"Hi."
"So tell me what happened."
"I'd rather talk about what happened beforehand. Are you okay?" I remember him storming out of the apartment.
"Yeah I'm fine. I was just..shocked." I don't believe it for a second. But I don't think he wants to talk about what's wrong.
"So what happened Riley?"
"Nothing."
"Spill."
"Farkle!" I find myself playfully yelling, maybe a little too loudly, I see an apartment light across the alley go on.
"Come on, Riley. Would I want to know?"
I don't answer.
"Well then out with it! I'll be fine, come on!" This prying goes on for about another 4 minutes straight. If he keeps bugging me I think I'll hang up.
"Riley! Say it-" I finally blurt out, red-faced:
"HE KISSED ME OKAY!"
No response. I can't even hear his breathing, or mine for that matter.
The line goes dead.
Crap.

---------------------
Sorry for the boring chapter! But I had to explain what happened because it will have an affect on both Riles and Farkle in the next few chapters. But don't worry becauseeeee the next few chapters are more intense and interesting.
