As days turned into nights and nights into days, two weeks passed without a word exchanged between Nico and Y/N. The silence was not only palpable but also veiled with a curtain of unresolved emotions and unsaid words.

Meanwhile, Y/N's undying enthusiasm and impeccable coordination skills didn't go unnoticed, earning her the prestigious position of the captain of the cheerleading squad. Her squad decided to throw a party in her honor, a celebration of her hard-earned success.

The night of the party arrived, shimmering with hope and anticipation. With a heart filled with joy yet a tinge of melancholy for the uninvited, Y/N looked stunning, embodying the spirit of a true leader. The girls decided to extend an invitation to the hockey team.

The night had already draped itself around the town, and the echoes of cheer and celebration from the venue bounced off the icy walls of the nearby hockey rink. Nico Hischier walked into the party with a stoic facade, a captain's resolve underlining his every step. But amidst the crowd, his eyes only sought one person, Y/N, who shimmered under the fairy lights, her excitement for her newfound captaincy casting a warm glow around her.

However, the turmoil of emotions from that one night of shared laughter and candid confessions had left a cold distance between them. Nico's attempts at burying the past were visible as he mingled around yet meticulously avoided any encounter with Y/N. The rhythm of the night swirled around the unsaid words that hung heavily between them.

Unable to bear the cold shoulder any longer and the simmering curiosity bubbling within her, Y/N decided to step onto thin ice. With a playful glint in her eyes, she drifted towards Jack, a teammate of Nico's who was known for his playful banter and friendly disposition.

As the music ebbed and flowed around them, Y/N engaged Jack in light-hearted flirtation. The laughter and playful glances didn't go unnoticed by Nico, whose eyes now burned with a mixture of confusion and a hint of jealousy.

The night rolled on, but Nico's gaze was fixed. Each laugh shared between Y/N and Jack sent a shiver down his spine, unfurling the protective vein in him that he hadn't realized had entwined itself around his heart.

His steps gravitated towards Y/N, as if pulled by a force beyond his comprehension. The gentle frost in the air crackled with the tension as Nico intervened, his stance protective, his eyes bearing a storm of emotions ready to snow down.

The room was abuzz with chatter, laughter, and soft music, but Nico's distant demeanor had left her with a desire to steer the night onto a livelier track. Jack, with his easy-going charisma, was just the companion she needed to shake off the gloom.

The jovial tune of the music filled the space between them as Jack grinned, engaging Y/N in a teasing conversation.

Jack: "So, Captain Y/N, does this new title mean you'll be ruling the cheer world with a pom-pom scepter?"

Y/N chuckled, "Why, of course! And a crown made of sparkles to match. But tell me, Jack, is the hockey rink as thrilling as it looks from the stands?"

Jack: "Ah, it's a realm of icy adventures! Every game is a battle, and every goal, a conquered kingdom."

Their laughter mingled with the music, painting the evening with shades of camaraderie and playful banter. The proximity between Jack and Y/N shortened as the conversation flowed effortlessly.

Y/N: "And what about off the rink? Any icy adventures there?"

Jack, with a teasing glint in his eyes, gently draped his arm around Y/N's shoulder. "Well, some adventures are worth melting for, don't you agree?"
