"You were with him earlier that's why you did not came to see me before the party" his eyebrows were frowned.
I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. Nico's eyes widened, taken aback by my sharp response.
"It really isn't any of your business," I reiterated. "Jack and I are friends, that's all. What you should really be concerned about is Eliza. She had no right to approach me the way she did."
Nico's expression turned serious, "What did she say to you?"
I hesitated for a moment, deciding on how much to reveal. "She tried to throw it in my face that you two were talking again, even suggested that you both were meeting up tonight. I don't know what her game is, but she needs to keep my name out of her mouth."
Nico sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Look, I'm sorry about Eliza. She's trying to cause drama, and I shouldn't have let her get to you. But you should have come to me about it, not go off with Jack."
I crossed my arms, a little irritated. "Why? So you can defend her actions or make excuses for her? Nico, you need to understand that I'm not just going to stand around waiting for you to decide where your loyalties lie. I deserve better than that."
Nico looked down, processing my words. "I understand," he whispered. "I messed up, and I'll make it right. Just... give me a chance."
"I give chance to people that knows what they want..." I wait before answering " I do believe Jack knows exaclty what he wants". Knowing this sentence will cause damage into our relationship. No men likes to be replace by a teammate and it is not the case I just want him to feel how i felt.
Nico's face darkened, and he looked away for a second. When he looked back at me, there was a mixture of hurt and confusion in his eyes. "Is this because of what happened earlier? I didn't mean to upset you."
I took a deep breath, fighting back the emotions that threatened to spill over. "We shared such a special week-end and after that i realize that you were answering her calls, for what Nico, we were together that night ?"
He looked pained, "I'm sorry. I never meant to make you feel any less than special."
"You don't get it, do you?" I retorted, "It's not just about words, Nico. Actions speak louder. And your actions have been pushing me away."
Nico looked down, "I know. But please don't let my mistakes push you into someone else's arms."
I sighed, "It's not about pushing me to someone else. It's about feeling appreciated and loved. I just want to be happy, Nico. And right now, being around Jack brings me happiness."
Seeing Nico's anger flare, his nostrils flaring and his jaw clenching, was a bit unsettling. "You think you can just parade around with Jack, making me jealous? I won't let you be with him or get close to him," he snapped.
I took a step back, surprised by the intensity of his reaction. "Nico, it's not about making you jealous. I'm not some property that you can claim. I have my own choices, my own feelings."
Nico's eyes were wild, searching for some hint of surrender in mine. "You're playing with fire here. You know Jack's reputation. He's not good for you."
I lifted my chin defiantly, refusing to let him intimidate me. "And who are you to decide that for me? This isn't about Jack's reputation or even about you and me. It's about my choice. I deserve to be with someone who respects and values me. And if that person isn't you, then so be it."
Amalia, sensing the growing tension, stepped in between us. "Enough! This is a party. We're supposed to be celebrating, not fighting." She gave Nico a pointed look. "You need to cool off."
