The drive to Nico's place was filled with an almost tangible tension. Neither of us spoke much, but the silence wasn't necessarily uncomfortable. Every now and then, our eyes would meet, exchanging a thousand words. The city lights blurred past, and the hum of the car engine was the only sound accompanying us.
Upon reaching his apartment, Nico opened the door for me, a small gesture that I appreciated. His place was well-lit, cozy, with a hint of masculinity in its decor. He turned on some soft music in the background, the melody wrapping around us like a comforting blanket.
Nico's apartment was on the 12th floor, offering a panoramic view of the city. The moment you entered, you were greeted by a spacious open-floor living area, with floor-to-ceiling windows that allowed the ambient city lights to pour in, giving the space a warm glow.
The decor was a blend of contemporary and rustic. Rich wooden flooring stretched across the apartment, complemented by neutral colored walls adorned with abstract art pieces and black and white photographs. The living room boasted a plush gray sectional sofa facing a state-of-the-art flat screen TV mounted on the wall. Adjacent to the TV was a minimalist wooden bookshelf, filled with an array of books from classic literature to modern thrillers.
To the left of the living area was a sleek, modern kitchen, complete with stainless steel appliances, a marble countertop, and high stools for casual dining. A pendant light hung over the countertop, casting a warm and inviting ambiance. The cupboards were made of dark mahogany, contrasting beautifully with the light backsplash.
