Y/N's Perspective

Death has never really scared me. It was a concept that I have been very familiar with. I was first introduced to the idea of death when those men attacked me on the way to the church. Last year I faced death nearly every day, fighting evil poachers, deadly creatures and goblins. I was never scared of the idea of death, but now I am.

Last year there were a few times where I almost welcomed death. At least all the responsibility would be off my shoulders, but I guess it was not in my cards. However, now I am not ready. I never thought falling off a damn broom would be the end of me.

I remember the broom suddenly jerking around underneath me and I lost my grip. I remember holding on for dear life, hanging above the ground. I lose my grip on the broom and begin to fall to the earth.

I begin to see flashes of my life. I see my parents scolding me and hitting me after getting caught playing with some of girls from town. I see myself hiding in my closet with a candle hunched over a book late in the evening. I see Professor Fig smiling at me and hugging me before I see his cold lifeless body. I see the beautiful shore of Black Lake as Sebastian reads to me. I see us dancing, kissing, laughing, flying. All I see is Sebastian. It all goes dark after that.

My eyes flutter and I get a brief sight of soft candle light flickering. I keep my eyes closed and try to gather my surroundings. Am I dead?

I hear soft whispering beside me.

"You have not left her side for two days now. You need to eat and sleep."

"I can't leave her Ominis! I need to be here if she wakes up! I need to be the first person she sees when she wakes up."

Ominis sighs, "Sebastian, you are driving yourself mad. I will bring you food and we will talk about you getting some sleep tonight."

I hear the footsteps shuffle away and Sebastian whispers under his breath. "I will never leave her side."

That is when I start to remember what happened after I lost grip of my broom. I was free falling through the air and next thing I know I stop. I feel an arm holding me close against a tight warm chest as I am lowered to the ground. Sebastian caught me from hitting the ground.

He ran off the pitch and carried me to the nearest Floo Station. He rushed me into the hospital wing and yelled for Nurse Blainey as he laid me down gently on a cot. It all happened so fast and I was blurring in and out of consciousness, I did not know if it was even real.

"Y-you... saved me" I whisper quietly and open my eyes to look over at Sebastian.

It shows that he has not left my side. His hair is messy and hangs over his eyes. His eyes are dark and have blue and black bags underneath them. He is paler than the ghosts that roam the castle. His eyes are bloodshot either from tears or from the lack of sleep, or both.

He falls out of his chair and on his knees next to the bed. He grabs my hand and wraps both of his hands around mine. "Darling" he lets out in a breath of relief. "You are awake. Thank Merlin! I have been so worried about you."

I try to sit up in bed, but Sebastian quickly stands up and puts his hand on my shoulder to stop me. "Please darling. Just lay down and rest."

"How long have I been here?"

"Two days. I guess your body went into shock from the fall because you fainted on me when I got here." Sebastian pauses for a moment and sits on the bed with me. His hand moves from my shoulder and comes up to my cheek. His thumb gently caresses my cheek. "I... I thought I lost you." Tears begin to trickle down his cheeks.
