Reputation to Protect out now!
"So, this hall represents the club's long, albeit modest, history. The first match was played in 1897. During the war, our stadium was used as a makeshift hospital..." Rebecca remarked. "Yeah, some of the locals claim they still see fallen soldiers wandering around the pitch."
"Ooh," poppy agreed bringing her chin to teds shoulder.
"That's spooky." Ted agreed.
"Do you believe in ghosts, Ted?" Rebecca pondered.
"I do." He admitted. "But more importantly, I think they need to believe in themselves. You know?" Rebecca stared back at him confused.
"Not really." Poppy countered as Birdie contined to skip down the hall.
"Okay. And this is a wall of our previous owners."
"Okay. And now look at this fella up here." Ted pointed at Rupert and Rebeccas face pinched. "How 'bout the girls and the champagne and everything?" Ted chuckled and he didnt notice Poppy aggressively shaking her head. "He looks like a good time." Poppy cleared her throat.
"That's my ex-husband." Rebecca informed him stiffly.
"Well, good times aren't always a good time, I've found..." Ted offered. "You know, I heard about all that. How you holding up?"
"Yeah, hasn't been the easiest year." Rebecca assured. "But Poppy and Birdie helped get me through."
"Thats a good sister right there." Ted agreed having been going through his own marital issues.
"So, we'll need you to speak to the press." Rebecca reminded him.
"Yeah. No, after a couple nights' good sleep, I'll be happy to do so." Ted agreed.
"I'm so sorry. I thought you knew. They're ready for you now." Rebecca corrected pushing open the door.
"Hi! Hi! Hi! Its me! Birdie!" She declared doing her very best princess wave as she entered.
"They're what?" ted was bombarded with camera flashes. Birdie did a spin. She had been in the limelight her whole life. From Poppys football career and the drama with her coach to being Rebecca Weltons sister. Camera found her always. Birdie liked the spotlight.
"So, without further ado," Rebecca declared. "the new manager of AFC Richmond, Ted Lasso!"
"That was mean." Poppy whispered. Rebecca smirked.
"All right. How y'all doing?" Ted questioned as he took a seat.
"There's Coach." in the locker room the men were watching the interview on one of the stations. The press room was packed today. The men were all talking over each other.
"So I'm junior manager of football?" Poppy questioned.
"Thats what I said." Rebecca agreed.
"What does that entail?" Poppy pondered.
"Oi!" Roy Kent, the captain shouted. "If I don't hear silence, I'm gonna start punching dicks."
"One sec. Let me just... Throat got a little dry." Ted took a sip of the bottled water and spewed it back up, wiping at his chin. "Did not expect fizzy water there. Sorry."
"Oh... my." Poppy whispered as Birdie's face scrunched back disgusted.
"Why don't we just jump right in? Anybody got any questions?" Ted questioned and every hand shot up. "Oh, yeah, no. Should've saw that coming. You know what? You can put your hands down.'' Ted decided. "Real quick... Yeah. How about I go ahead and address the larger-than-average elephant in the room." Ted offered looking around. "No, I have never coached the sport that you folks call football at any level."
