Chapter 4 - Celebration

Time passed by ever since I moved into the Asahina household. Subaru's 20th birthday was coming up and I decided to make brownies for everyone in honor of him. I love to bake brownies so this time was a great chance to show my future brothers what I can do for them.

All I've been doing was trying to get used to how things go on in the house for the past month. I believe that it was my turn to do something in return for everything they have done for me.

After school, I took the time to head to the market to get ingredients for the brownies and store them somewhere where they cannot be found.

After I finished my homework one day, I walked out to the balcony and noticed that Subaru was practicing some basketball skills outside.

I was a bit interested to see how he plays and I decided to go downstairs and watch him. I knew that I could just watch him from the balcony, but I wanted to try to play as well. I was pretty much a tomboy when I was a child. I loved to play basketball. When I would play with my friends, I would do a lay up that was perfect and I would make a basket. I was so happy that everyone would cheer for me.

It was so much fun back then.

I walked out and in my view, I saw Subaru jump up and do a slam dunk with the ball. I clapped immediately, "That was awesome!"

He was surprised as he looked at me, "Naomi!"

Then, the ball fell on top of his head.

"Oh my gosh! Are you alright?!", I ran towards him with concern in my eyes.

He touched his head and smiled, "Don't worry, I'm fine. It doesn't hurt."

"I'm sorry if I scared you."

He shook his head, "No, it's fine."

"Anyways, that was a cool slam dunk. I never saw one happen before my eyes."

"Heh, thank you." He bent down and picked up the ball. He looked at it and then showed it to me, "Do you want to try?"

"Me? Really?"

"Yeah. Go ahead!"

I took the ball, "Okay!" I walked in front of the basket, held the ball in a lay up position, then lifted the ball, jumped up and threw it. The ball flew right into the basket.

I jumped and threw a fist in the air, "YES!"

Subaru smiled, "Wow..you're good at lay ups huh?"

"Yeah. I used to play basketball when I was a kid, so I was happy when you gave me the ball."

"Well then...are you good at stealing it?", he sent me a teasing smile.

"Are you trying to threaten me?"

"Give me the ball."

I took the ball from the ground and threw it to him.

"Thanks!", he said with a smile as he started to dribble away from me.

I opened my mouth, "You tricked me!"

"You have to steal it back!"

"Aww! Subaru that's so mean of you!", I ran towards him as he backed away, dribbing the ball.

"Give me the ball!", I yelled as I reached out multiple times to get the ball.

"Nope!", he ran passed me once I got close.

"Subaru!"

"Nope!"

"Subaru!"

"Haha! Nope!"
