Chapter 9 - Working Hard to Achieve

I enter my bedroom feeling down as I sat on my bed and placed my face in the palm of my hands, my elbows resting on my thighs.

I can't believe that happened in front of me...I don't understand why that happened...

Natsume...Subaru...what is going on between you two?

I removed my face from my hands and took a breath as I tried to calm myself down, "Calm down, Naomi. School is tomorrow, you can't be feeling this way." I patted my face lightly with my hands and stood up as I decided to change into my sleeping clothes.

Throughout the night, I tried my best to not let my brothers worry about me. I know that I might have acted strange but I don't want them to feel like something's wrong.

The next day...

I arrived at school with Yuusuke by my side. Yuusuke knew how weird I have been acting and decided to talk to me when it was lunch time.

After the class we had together, we decided to meet up at a table to eat lunch. Yuusuke saved a table for us and I met him there.

"Hey, Yuusuke," I greeted him as he waved with a smile. "I have to say that this is pretty new. You inviting me to eat lunch with you instead of your friends. Is something wrong?"

"No...it's just that..", he started to blush as I looked at him with confusion.

"Yuusuke?"

He looked at me with a serious gaze, "Tell me, there's something wrong isn't there?"

"Huh?", my eyes shot up as I just opened my container of food.

His gaze calmed down as he smiled, "We've known each other since we were Freshmen. I know when you are trying to hid something. You smile a lot but it wouldn't be your true smile."

I looked down as I held my spoon in my hand.

"I'm the only one who knows you pretty well, Naomi. You can't hide anything from me."

I looked at him, "Yuusuke...nothing's wrong believe me."

He shook his head, "This is when I don't believe you and you are starting to avoid me."

I looked back down as he spoke in a calm tone, "Tell me. As your friend and your brother I need to know or else you will feel very bad for not talking about it. Don't worry, I will listen to you."

I looked back at him. With the look upon his face, I couldn't keep the secret away from him anymore. I opened my mouth to speak, "It's about Natsume and Subaru."

"Natsume and Subaru? What happened?"

"Have they...have they always acted like they hated each other?"

Yuusuke thought for a moment and spoke, "As long as I can remember, I remember that they were always pretty close. Natsume would run with Subaru and help him out. They always got along. But, since both of them have pretty hard working jobs, I can tell how much pressure they going through. Natsume just wants Subaru to achieve his dream while Subaru wants to work hard his own way."

I nodded showing that I understood, "So they just want to support each other but they are feel pressure which is why they act that way towards each other."

Yuusuke nodded, "Yeah. At least, that's what I believe is going on."

"I see..."

"Yuusuke...why are you making sis look down. Did you say something mean to her?", a voice spoke behind us.
