POV: Lifty
"Come on."
He was standing at my door as I pulled myself out of bed, startled. "What..? It's Saturday," I muttered, shaking my head quickly. "Don't you remember? The entire town is waiting for us to fight in thirty minutes. You'd better get ready," he replied. Splendont. I still don't know if I regret being his roommate or not.. he's really nice, cleans up after himself, and gets me up on time. But he's my 'arch nemesis', and it looks suspicious to be living with him. But after all this time I haven't left, so maybe he isn't that bad. "Aw.. fine," I groaned, "But you gotta leave first." Splendont was taken aback—it was so fun to tease him—and quickly opened the door to leave. "Well, duh, of course..!" He murmured, leaving the room quickly.
I laughed, getting up and getting ready as quickly as I could. I checked the time. "Only 8 minutes?" I exclaimed to himself, my tail ducking between my legs as I thought of being late. I rushed out the door—being late was my least favorite thing, ever—and left the house. Quickly, I found myself headed for the spot Splendont and I always fight at. We do this for the town. Not for us. I know I wouldn't want to fight if I had a choice, but the town really likes it when we fight. So we fight, a lot. I stopped abruptly, my shoes scraping the ground as I came to such a quick stop. I glanced around, and very few people were waiting, so I loosened up. I was still moderately tense, not to mention tired.
He was there. Splendont. Standing right in front of me, arms crossed, with that familiar smirk. I knew by then what it meant; 'I'm gonna win, but good luck anyway.' I appreciated that out of him, he wished me luck on everything despite knowing he'd win. But I hated, oh I hated, having to fight him. I loved spending time with him. But fighting him..? I noticed I had been lost in thought when he slapped me. "Earth to Lifty..? We have a fight to begin." I sighed and backed away to start. He also backed away, staring me dead in my eyes, as I did for him. I sighed.
