The Shadow World had been creeping around the edges of her life for as long as she could remember. It was where she belonged, yet she constantly found herself on the outskirts of that world. Mabel and the Shadow World were stuck in an intricate dance around one another, moving together and yet never colliding. The Shadow World had haunted her every move, skirting around her. With every step she took, the Shadow World followed and she was acutely aware of its presence breathing down her neck.

And yet, Mabel hadn't expected to crash into it the way she did when her sort-of stepsister turned eighteen. Suddenly, the world she lived in and the one that haunted her collided and Mabel would have to find her bearings in this new life that she could no longer outrun. With a sort-of stepmother missing, a sort-of stepsister freaking out over this new world, and a father who she was no longer sure she could trust, Mabel had a hard time getting her thoughts straight. Don't even get her started on the archer and blondie and their overbearing protectiveness.

To think that it all started on a regular Tuesday afternoon...
