Since leaving the bathroom, Mabel hadn't left her father's side. She held his hand and prayed on whoever was out there, listening, that she would not have to lose him. Magnus was telling Clary everything about Valentine and the Circle and what part Jocelyn had played in it all. Luke had insisted. Mabel had blocked it all out, her thoughts with the worry for her dad were too loud anyway to really pay attention to a story she already knew.

"How does this help me find the Cup?" Clary asked as she and Magnus re-entered the room.

"Maybe Luke thinks that if you know your mother better, you'll know where she hid it."

Clary sighed and sat down in a chair across from Luke. "Then, tell me why she gave up being a Shadowhunter."

Mabel snorted dryly and looked over her shoulder at Clary, who was giving her a questioning look. "Isn't it obvious, Clary? She loved you more. That woman would make a deal with the devil if it meant protecting you." Clary's lips twitched in a smile.

Luke grunted and Mabel immediately turned her attention back on him, squeezing his hand. "Dad!?"

"Luke?"

"The magic's wearing off." Magnus knelt beside Mabel and she made way, still grasping onto her father's hand. Magnus snapped his fingers and used his magic to stop Luke from shifting, trying to keep the poison at bay. "I'm running out of magic."

"What can we do?" Both Clary asked.

"I can't leave him, but the potion still needs Komodo scale. Find it. Add the rest when they get here. We have to feed it to Luke."

Mabel and Clary shared a look before nodding in agreement. Clary set off to finish the potion and Mabel stayed to help her father and Magnus. "You said you're running out of magic?"

"Yes. I can't keep this up much longer. Your lovers have to hurry."

"Then take mine. Whatever you need." Mabel held out her hand. Magnus looked at her for a moment before grasping onto her hand. He instantly looked like he had a bit of an energy boost and Mabel felt something drain from her. It was her magic as a Shadowhunter, she knew, so she didn't fight it. They had to save her dad.

"Mabel!" She heard Jace's voice echo from the hallway.

Mabel grunted, "Clary!" Clary heard her and came running just as Jace, Alec and Simon ran into the room.

"Over here." Clary called. Jace tossed her the ingredients while Alec dropped down beside Mabel and Magnus, putting a supporting hand on Mabel's back.

Jace and Simon rushed after Clary to help her finish the potion and soon returned. Clary forced some of the liquid down Luke's throat and soon enough, he stopped grunting and opened his eyes. "Mabel. Clary."

Magnus slacked and Mabel caught him, looking down at him in worry, "Are you okay?"

Despite how exhausted he was, Magnus' lips twitch into a smile. "Shouldn't you be asking your father that?"

Mabel glanced at her father, who was actually smiling. Clearly the poison had gone and his werewolf healing was kicking in. He'd be okay in a few hours. She looked back down at Magnus.

"You look worse at the moment."

"Gee, thanks, Peaches."

"You're welcome." She grinned down at him, making him smile. "Are you okay, though?"

"I'm okay. Just tired. I'll be alright."

Mabel hummed, "You better be."
