Chapter 21

A Hearty Reunion and Meals

Amidst the ethereal moonlight, the figure clutched the shattered remnants of a mask, their inquisitive gaze falling upon a once opulent chair. This ornate seat, despite its regal appearance, bore the wear and tear of time's passage. Stains of crimson, long dried, adorned both the chair and the floor beneath it, casting a shadow of dark history upon the room.

The scene hinted at a bygone era of opulence, now tainted by the passage of time and an unknown tragedy. It left lingering questions, secrets whispered in the silent night, waiting to be uncovered by the curious observer.

As the figure gingerly traced their fingers along the chair's ornate armrest, seeking to glean insights from the past, a voice unexpectedly resonated from behind them. The voice, though unexpected, did not appear to startle the figure.

"I did not expect a visitor at this late hour," the voice mused, its tone hinting at a mixture of intrigue and familiarity.

-Hunter's POV.

In the dimly lit Clocktower, the two figures, one cloaked in mystery and the other known as the Hunter, exchanged respectful bows. The crescent moon's gentle glow illuminated their meeting, revealing the features of a certain consul of the Abyssal Hunters, and the Hunter himself.

The figure's voice held a note of wisdom as she responded to the Hunter's greeting.

"Indeed, Hunter, the lessons of our trade transcend our differences. Expecting the unexpected is a constant in our perilous journey."

Their crimson eyes gleamed with a shared understanding of the challenges they both are facing.

"Indeed, It has been a while isn't it?, Lady Gladiia," the Hunter acknowledged with a touch of nostalgia in his voice.

As the Hunter ventured deeper into the clocktower's dimly lit chambers, he turned to Gladiia and inquired with genuine curiosity, "How have you been, Lady Gladiia?"

She, shrouded in mystery, met his gaze with a hint of intrigue. "I have been well," she replied in her stoic manner.

With a thoughtful expression, the Hunter returned her question. "And how about you? You went missing without a trace for months. What happened?"

The Hunter's eyes briefly reflected a somber mood as he responded to Lady Gladiia's question. "There have been some some... complications during my late investigations. It caused me to go into hiding to heal my wounds."

He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts. "But the good news is, I'm here now, still alive and kicking."

"Oh also, recently I've made a non-aggression pact with the Iberian Inquisition, so for the time being they won't cause any problems with me, but unfortunately the contract did neither vouch for you and your comrades nor we gain any direct support from them as planned." He continues.

Gladiia's crimson eyes held a glint of understanding as she responded with a sigh, "It matters not, Iberia's hatred to my people runs deep in their veins through their baseless propagandas. Speaking of which, is this complications of yours in the shape of a humanoid Seaborn, Hunter?"

Surprised by her insight, the Hunter questioned, "How did you know?"

With an air of confidence, Gladiia elaborated. "After our observation on the roof, I went around fighting the Seaborns on the ocean, it was then that I found an underwater cave system connecting to somewhere under the chapel, after that i explored it and encountered the creature you speak of."
