Y/N
You were woken up by someone tapping you on the shoulder. Surprisingly, you didn't remember falling asleep. You looked up at the person who woke you up. Agent Jareau stood next to Spencer's bed, a sympathetic look on her face."A- Agent Jareau! I- This isn't what it looks like, I swear." You tried to convince her, but she shook her head, chuckling.
"First of all, call me JJ. Secondly, you're in my best friend's bed, covered in dry blood and tears. I think I can guess why." She smiled.
"W- We wanted to keep it quiet for a while. It's sort of new for both of us...and we wanted Carter to have some time to adjust. It's not every day your mom has someone new in her life." You explained, watching as JJ nodded.
"I get it. It was the same with me and my boyfriend." JJ agreed.
"Please, keep it quiet? At least until after Spencer pulls through." You asked.
"Actually, that's why I woke you up. Spencer's surgery is over. He's conscious and stable, but he hasn't woken up." JJ smiled.
A smile appeared on your face as you teared up.
"How about you shower and get changed? Penelope and I will take you and Carter to go and see him." JJ suggested.
"T- Thank you so much, JJ." You nodded, exiting Spencer's apartment.
One - peaceful - shower later, you were in new clothes, grabbing some snacks for Carter before heading off to go and see Spencer. The trip was short, but the moment Carter was buckled into the car, he was out like a light. Apparently, school had taken some energy out of the kid.
You gently shook Carter awake, watching as his eyes opened.
"Are we seeing dad now?" Carter asked, clearly still waking up. The entire car fell silent. You looked at Carter for a minute, forgetting that Penelope and JJ were right in front of you. Not wanting to correct Carter, you nodded.
You felt butterflies in your stomach. Carter had been held hostage for the first 5 years of his life. He probably never got any care or love from anyone who held him. In the time that Spencer had known Carter, he had started to feel so comfortable around Spencer that he referred to him as "dad". You were unsure if Carter knew what he had called Spencer, but you didn't care. Spencer made it clear that he wanted to be in yours and Carter's lives. You didn't care if it was too early for Carter to see Spencer as his dad. You weren't going to correct him. Spencer had been more of a father figure to Carter than anyone else in Carter's life.
You debated telling Spencer when he woke up. On one hand, you wanted to tell him what Carter said, but on the other hand, you wanted leave it and see if it happened again. You wanted to see if Carter had unknowingly called Spencer "dad" because he was groggy from having been asleep, or if that was truly how Carter saw Spencer in his life.
Whatever the case, you, Penelope, JJ, and Carter walked through the hospital, Carter's hand tightly holding onto yours. You met up with Derek, Hotch, Emily and Rossi, who had been at the hospital since Spencer was admitted. Just as you stopped walking, a doctor walked up to you and the group.
"Which one of you is Y/N Y/L/N?" She asked, looking at all of you. You stepped forward, watching as she began to walk off. You followed her, Carter walking with you.
"Spencer is conscious, but he hasn't yet woken up. He's been muttering your name in his sleep, so I assumed he'd want to see you when he wakes up. If you talk to him, he will be able to hear you." The doctor spoke before excusing herself so she could go and check up on other patients.
"I am so glad you're alive, Spencer. I don't know what would've happened if I had lost you...if we had lost you." You watched as Carter walked up to Spencer and got on his tippy toes to place a gentle kiss to Spencer's cheek. You almost cried, watching this cute moment. Before Carter pulled away, you managed to snap a photo of him being so cute toward Spencer. You couldn't wait for Spencer to see it.
"JJ knows about us, by the way. She kinda figured it out after she found me sleeping in your bed. I was so worried and tired that I just laid in your bed and fell asleep." You admitted, sitting down on a nearby chair.
