"He got a cute laugh too, he just . . . ion know. He just so fine," Marshell said with a smile as she typed on her computer. It looked like some assignment for one of her classes.
It wasn't surprising since they've been in school for a couple weeks now and Marshell really took a liking to the fashion designing class.
Serenity rolled her eyes, "shut up and fuck him already. It's been like . . . ion even know how long. You talk about Wes all day."
"I know you not talking to me when you got that lil lightskin smiling at you in the hallway. And you be smiling right back at him. You can't be talking to me." Marshell snapped back. Serenity just sucked her teeth.
"He just a nice dude. He funny and whatever but girl he look like he—ion know . . . ion wanna say it."
"If you finna say he got hoes, he probably do but it's obvious he like you. Unless he a manipulative bitch, ion think he would be smiling that much when he see you. He want you, girl."
Serenity shrugged, "he cute and allat but ion know. I'm tryna stay focused on—"
"Yeah yeah yeah, you wanna focus on your schoolwork and keep a good reputation. But you gotta loosen up a lil bit too. You should go talk to the guy. I don't want you to be lonely . . . and when I say lonely, I mean without a man." Marshell rambled.
"Anyway, me and Wes was finna go on a lil walk together later. I gotta sneak to the boys dorm but it'll be worth it," the girl smiled, "you should go wit me and you can go chill with Pablo Escobar's son."
"Pablo Escobar—ain't that racist? And you niggas sound old. A fuckin walk? What about an arcade or something?" Serenity queried, "that sounds more interesting."
"You and what's his name can go."
"Girl."
"Don't "girl" me lil nigga, you know you wanna talk to that boy. I bet if you seen him wit another bitch, you'll be upset." Marshell said, making Serenity sigh.
"Okay, whatever. I'll—I'll go talk to him."

"You been working on that since you got home," Namil said with a mouthful of food. Wes was staring at his paper intently as he tried his best to finish the homework from their math class for the day.
"I'm tryna hurry up and finish before tonight." Wes replied, not looking up from the paper, "and quit talking with your mouth full. Didn't your mom ever tell you that?"
"Where you going anyway? You set out an outfit and everything . . . and you never do that."
Wes stopped his writing and looked up at his curly haired friend who had been holding a bowl of ramen, "what's your progress on that girl?"
The question made Namil think for a moment. It's not like he had Serenity's number. The only time they talked was when they were in class and that wasn't very often since Namil was an avid class skipper.
