Chapter 12

Nikki stayed with Derek for the rest of the night

The team would not let Nikki go home alone and they didn't want her staying in her house until the police were done searching the place and making sure the person wouldn't come back. Sky was sleeping peacefully on the living room couch while Nikki was in the kitchen

The cop sent over a photocopy of the letter found on her kitchen counter, he wanted to see if it meant anything to her. As she was reading the letter her phone went off making her jump "Angle" she answered resting it between her shoulder and ear

"Nyx" It was Jay

Nikki sighed in relief "Jay, hey. What's up, isn't it like 10 over there?" she asked reading through the letter

"Yeah. Yeah, uh I had a question, I'm with mouse by the way"

"Hey Athena"

"Hey Mouse" Nikki smiled hearing his voice "What's the question Jay?"

"Uh, did you get a letter?"

Nikki paused in reading "Yeah, how did you-"

"Alright Nyx, I think we're being targeted" Nikki sighed rubbing her eyes, she thought the same thing. The letter is too much of a connection of the three of them past she knows it wasn't a coincidence for it not to be "Nyx?" she jolted back remembering the boys were on the phone

"Yeah I'm here" She took a deep breath looking back at the letter "I know, it's too much not to be about our past... the person who left the note was bitten by Sky-"

"What! Are you okay?! Is Sky okay?!"

"Athena are you two alright!"

Both boys yelled making her pull the phone away

"Guys!" Sky whimpered, making her pause and look over to make sure she didn't wake Sky or Derek, when she didn't hear anything else she sighed "Guys" she started in a quieter voice "I'm fine, Sky was shot but she's okay, right now she's sleeping. I'm staying with Derek until the police tell me it's okay to go back to my house"

She heard the boys sigh in relief that she and Sky were alright "Alright, try and get some sleep Nyx"

"How do you-"

"We know you, Athena, you're not sleeping with how fast you answered the phone. Just try and get some shut eye for us... or do we need to punish you when we see you again?"

Nikki squeaked blushing brightly "No! No, I'm going. Bye guys" she hung up her phone. Taking one last look at the letter, she closes her laptop and sets it away before heading to the sofa

"Arrow" someone was shaking her shoulder "Arrow wake up. Come on wake up" Nikki opened her eyes to see Spencer in front of her. Lifting her head, she sees Derek in the kitchen making coffee and making Sky breakfast "Good morning sleepyhead" she looks back at Spencer and groans

"Too early"

"It's 7" Derek told her, walking over to her with a cup of coffee "And you need to get ready" Nikki takes the coffee from her friend "What time did you go to sleep?" Spencer asked, sitting on the table in front of her. Nikki swings her feet over the sofa and takes a sip of coffee "1 I think" she sighed running her hand through her hair

"Let me go get changed and then we'll leave"

The two watch her grab her bag and head into the bathroom "I'm worried about her" Spencer said petting Sky, who was the only dog that seemed to like him "Yeah, so am I"

Nikki wasn't sleeping well, "I heard her talking on the phone last night. Whatever it was about wasn't good I can tell you that" he didn't know who she was on the phone with but the can tell that whoever she was talking to, she was worried

"Alright I'm ready!" Nikki walked out dressed in blue jeans, a white t-shirt, her black coat and some heeled boots, to go back in her hand, her hair was pulled into a ponytail. The guys jumped up ready to leave, Derek neighbor will be watching sky until they get back

The three of them were about to leave when Derek got a call from JJ, sharing a look with Nikki and Spencer he answered "Hey JJ, I'm with Nikki and Spencer, what's up?"

"We got a case, we're heading back to Chicago"

Nikki looked at Derek phone, the only thing she can feel is worry
