CHAPTER SIX: 'The Seat Swap...'

Nabi skipped up the hill with a cheerful smile. "Namra!" She called out and waved over to the girl in the distance.
"Good morning." The shorter grinned and linked her arm with Nabi's, the two happily walking into the large school building.
"hold on." Namra groaned and bent down to tie her loose show laces. Nabi waited for a bit, but a bit turned into minutes.
"Can you not tie laces?" Nabi huffed and placed her hands on her hips. Namra looked up at her with a toothy smile.
"I can, just give me a second." She reassured and looked back down.
A smile lit up on Nabi's face as she thought of a good idea. "I'm leaving so you better hurry up." She teased as she slowly began walking backwards.
"Nabi, Wait!" Namra called out and speeded up her actions with a small giggle.
Nabi let out a laugh while covering her beaming smile with her hand, her feet slowly moved backwards - joy filling her body.
Everything was fine, until...
Her eyes shot open as her heart began to race with panic. A grunt from the person she had just crashed into trailed up to her ears.
Their hands were placed firmly on her upper arms, keeping her steady on her feet. She felt hot breath fan her neck as her eyes stayed squinted closed.
She quickly stood properly and turned around with bow. "I'm sorry." She apologised, her eyes slowly opening and looked up at the person.
Jake Sim. His dark hair was middle parted and neatly styled, his tie was done up properly and his backpack was swung over one shoulder. His jaw stayed clenched while his eyebrows narrowed.
"Watch out next time." He grumbled and turned around to enter the school. His hands digging deep into his blazer pockets.
Did he recognise her? She hoped not, that would be humiliating.
"Nabi! Are you ok?" Namra cooed and linked her arm with the taller girls, Nabi nodded and gave Namra a small reassuring smile.
"Let's go."
