Chapter Two

I breathe and took my bottle water to take a sip bago ako tumayo para kuhain ang bag ko, nan dumatung ang dalawa sa ka-workmates ko.

"Bye Athena.." Paalam ng mga ka-workmates ko.

"Bye, ingat kayo." I replied, waving my hand.

I'm currently working at a comics and computer cafe near my school. I'm a working college student who's passionate about numbers, codes, and strategic games. I'm a huge fan of computer games, which is why I chose this job over working at a fast food chain.

This year has been the most unfortunate one in my life, and for my mom, too.  That's why I had to take on a part-time job to help us survive. Kaya minsan pagnanalo ako sa online games at kumita ako ng pera, pinapandagdag ko yun pambili ng mga needs ko sa school.

Honestly, I'm at a point where I'm close to dropping out of school.  Why?  Because my mom suddenly got really sick. The doctor ran a million tests and put her on an expensive treatment plan, but nothing worked. We have tons of medical bills we can't pay because Mom's credit cards are all overdrawn.  I don't have a dad; he died in an accident when I was still in my mom's belly.  So it's just my mom and me, helping each other out. This all makes me remember something my mom told me...

"We're poor, and I'm sick. Find a rich man so you can have a good life." I remember my mom saying those words so clearly.

How am I supposed to do that? Boys don't even notice me. Duh! But my mom kept repeating it. "Find a rich man...." Those were her last words before she slipped into a coma.

And after that, my life turned around 180 degrees. I didn't know what to do. I was too young to find a rich man to marry. I had no idea when Mom would be okay.  I was drowning in debt. My grades were suffering, and I felt so alone. I don't know what to do..

And then, one day, as I was leaving my work shift, a strange man came running towards me. I was really scared because he looked so aggressive as he approached. He shoved a device into my hand and then fled the scene. I looked at the device and suddenly, a voice came out of it.

Agent: You've been selected for a top mission. This message will self-destruct in 30 seconds.

I quickly read the details. It said that I could make a ton of money and work with computers and security systems all day.  I furrowed my brow and questioned myself. Is this for real?

Well, my life was at rock bottom anyway, so it was worth finding out.  I quickly pressed the button labeled "Accept" before the timer ran out.  I tossed the device into the air, and it exploded like a fireworks. My jaw dropped in disbelief..

What in the mission impossible?

The next day, while I was eating breakfast, five men in black suits arrived. They introduced themselves as top agents and said I had to go with them. They're didn't let me finish my food. So I just grabbed the essentials I needs and put it inside the small pink luggage. After I packed my things, they whisked me away on a private jet to a state-of-the-art facility. My brow furrowed in confusion.  Why here?
