Luffy and Zoro left the diner room, quickly followed by Usopp and Chopper, who wanted to visit the place. Sanji and Nami were left alone at the table.
They tidied the table and went into the kitchen to do the washing up. Sanji didn't want anyone touching his utensils, so it was up to him to cook and tidy up afterwards.
Nami stared at Sanji, trying to understand his actions. This wasn't the Sanji she was used to, and she didn't know how to react. It was a new face for his friend. But Nami was a person who said things the way she thought, regardless of the person in front of her, and this was one of the qualities for which Sanji was particularly fond of her.
"What the hell happened during the dinner?" Nami shouted a little, not happy but mostly confused.
"What do you mean?" Sanji asked like he didn't know, which angered even more Nami.
"Don't play that with me! Why did you say things like that? It wasn't nice, it was mean." She replied. Sanji didn't seem sorry at all. He was continuing to do the washing like it was nothing.
"I only told the truth, don't do a big thing of nothing." Sanji shrugged.
"Wow! Since when did you become heartless?" Nami squinted. She didn't recognize her best friend.
It had been a few weeks since Nami and Sanji had seen each other. Sanji had gone on a private business trip without her, and then she'd gone on holiday last week. What could have happened in that time for him to change like that? Well, maybe he changed a little before that, before she left, he already wasn't as usual. Nami thought about the last event that happened in Sanji's life. He had a lot of work, but that wasn't because of his job. She was sure of it. What happens in his personal life? Jeff seemed fine. She talked with him before leaving for this trip.
And suddenly, Nami had found it. How stupid she was. Why hadn't she thought of it before? It was so obvious.
"I'm not heartless, I'm just ..." Sanji continued.
"You're what, Sanji? Tell me! What could excuse your behaviour? " She asked, even if she knew what he was going to say. Sanji wiped his hands on the tea towel, having finally finished the dishes. He didn't reply.
"Don't tell me it's because of Ro..." Nami continued but was cut off by Sanji before she could end his sentence.
"Don't tell her name!" Nami sighed.
"What happened doesn't excuse being an asshole to others." Nami said while she was leaving the room.
"Nami!" Sanji called her one last time.
"What?" She asked.
"Can you ask the green-haired man to come to my office, please?" He said without looking at her in the eyes.
"Sanji, don't tell me you're going to..." Nami looked at him in shock. But one more time, Sanji stopped her.
"That's an order from your employer." Sanji stated.
"OK, boss." She shook her head in disapproval and emphasized the boss. It was very rare for Sanji to give her orders, but sometimes there was nothing she could do but listen. He was her boss, after all.
She went to the boy's room slowly, not willing to arrive too quickly. She knew she would find Zoro with the boys. She felt sorry for this boy. He was so young. How did he even get into a job like that? All day, she saw how he treated Luffy, Usopp, and especially Chopper. He was adorable with them. He didn't deserve to be forced to sell his body. Well, at least, that is what she thought he was obliged to do because who would be OK with selling his body if he had other choices? She hoped Sanji only wanted to talk to him to say he was sorry, but after the discussion they just had, she knew it wasn't for that.
