STAB
PROLOGUE

WARNING: This applyfic will not follow the Scream canon exactly. Just because a character died in one of the six films doesn't mean they're dead here. If you don't like it idk tough titty. (I'm mostly joking, I swear.) I want to use this applyfic to explore alternate endings/a different reality, since my actual Scream fanfics (even those in my drafts) all strictly follow the canon. I want this to be a fun and exciting experience for all of us! If people wanna see Scream all over again, they'd just watch the movie, you know? So I hope I can make this story stand out! ALSO one of the inconsistencies in the Scream franchise is that it's stated that only the first three Stab movies feature Sidney and the rest are fictional/made up (which is pretty well confirmed because we have a general synopsis of all 8 Stab movies thanks to the Scream fans that keep up with the mentions) but then in the reboot it's stated that Sidney is in every movie except the last one. (Stab 8.) For this fanfiction, we will be using the former idea. Gale continued to write about the Ghostface attacks, but only Stab 1-3 are based on true events. Stabs 4-8 will keep their random storylines that were assigned, because the point is that they were garbage. (What director in universe decided on that time traveling shit for a movie? Fire his ass.) Anyway, I hope we're all on the same page now!

"YEAH, I'M NOT really supposed to tell anyone yet, but I'm a lead in that new Stab movie", the blonde stated as she entered her kitchen. Like most young girls, she couldn't wait to share the good news with her best friend. They shared everything, after all. Including boyfriends, apparently. But she didn't know that. She only knew that this was her best friend, who she loved more than anything in the world, and she wanted to share her good fortune. "It's unreal. I met the Gale Weathers!" The tv was on in the background as she spoke. The news woman was speaking about an escaped prisoner in Woodsboro, but she didn't particularly care about that, so she switched it off.

The best thing to do was to avoid things that weren't your god damned business.

"Hey, that's awesome, Cynthia!", the girl on the other end of the line exclaimed. "I know you've been waiting for your breakout role for forever. This is gonna be huge for you!" Cynthia was an up and coming star in the industry. It was more of a struggle than she'd thought it would be. But she wasn't giving up! And now it was all finally paying off. After all that social climbing and clawing her way up from the bottom, she was about to be the lead in a movie. Well, a lead. Maybe not the lead. But a starring role was a starring role! Someone had faith in her. Someone believed in her. That meant everything.

"I know, I can't wait! I can finally take you on that big shopping spree like I said I would when we were kids." Things had been so simple back then. She'd done her first commercial when she was five, and really got serious and committed to acting when she was only six. That hadn't been her choice. It was her mother's. However, by the time she was sixteen, Cynthia had become enthralled with acting. It wasn't until she was eighteen did her career pick up any speed at all, and even then she'd spent most of her career being type casted after playing a mean girl or a typical blonde prior to that. Now, she was 23. She was young and hungry, and still trying to land that breakout role. She hoped that this was it. Her plump lips turned down into a frown as she was interrupted by a harsh ringing sound. "Hold on. Michelle. My mom's weird house phone thing is ringing."
