STAB,
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

"SO, NINA, WHAT'S it like to be openly sapphic as a popular actress? If you don't mind me asking", Dahlua asked. The six of them were sitting in a large booth at a nice diner. It was almost like a Dave and Busters, because there were a lot of arcade games at the back. (Was Dave and Busters even still a thing?) Either way, it was cool. And they were having a good time thus far.

"Sometimes, it's great. Sometimes, it's hell. There's not really any between", Nina answered with a chuckle. "People are..."

"Morons who objectify us?", Theo finished. "They think that just because we'we actors, we're toys for them to pick up and discard however they want. They shuffle us around for their own sick amusement, and the moment we stop being exactly who they want us to be, they're tired of us. They toss us aside like old Barbie dolls. We're not expected to grow or become our own people. We're meant to stay the same forever."

Dahlia's eyes softened. She placed a comforting hand on his upper arm. "I didn't realize it was like that. That must be so hard."

"It is what it is", Theo shrugged. "We all know what we signed up for. Doesn't make it fun."

"At the end of the day, we're still human", Nina said softly. "Sometimes, other people tend to forget that."

"Well, we'd never forget that", Genevieve reassured, squeezing her hand. "We care about you guys so much. You're so much more than just people on a screen."

"It can be nice to hear that sometimes. I should probably tell my mom that more often", Brody chuckled, though it was humorless. He didn't really think that anything about this was funny. Things just felt awkward. His mind was... all over the place right now. "Being a celebrity can be hard, especially when you're famous for all the wrong reasons." He couldn't help but to think of his mom and Sidney's claim to fame. They probably wouldn't even be famous if it weren't for Ghostface. If they hadn't been survivors, they would be nobodies. It probably would have been better that way. It definitely would have been better that way.

"Well, this took a very depressing turn", Wyatt joked. He placed his hand over Brody's on the table, where the boy was anxiously tapping his fingers. He did that a lot, apparently. It was his thing. Wyatt was beginning to notice. He tried his best to help when he could. "But I think you guys all needed to hear this."

"And now we can have fun!", Gen said cheerfully. "And, you know, cry later. And possibly outrun a masked hoodlum."

"I do not wanna hear about that goon right now", Theo groaned. "Let me enjoy myself, I beg of you."
