STAB,
CHAPTER ELEVEN

AFTER DROPPING THE kids off, Mark went back to the station. Tyler left with him. He felt a little bit safer when his dad was around. Of course, he knew his mother was capable of protecting them. That wasn't the problem. He was just always closest to his dad. Either way, that left Nina and Sidney home alone. Sidney never really felt afraid anymore. No one knew their new address. Besides, they lived a bit outside of the town. That was why she never expected to see her worst enemy when she opened the door. For a moment, she was frozen still. Her breaths were shallow and uneven. It was like she was a teenager all over again.

"What's the matter, Sidney? You look like you've seen a ghost." The words sent a shiver down her spine. It seemed to trigger something within Sidney, because she quickly moved to slam the door. A large hand gripped the wood, stopping it from closing. He pulled the door open with ease. "Come on, Sid. Aren't you gonna let me in?"

And that was how she ended up in this situation. Billy Loomis was in her house like he only ever belonged there. He was sitting in a chair at the table, man spreading and relaxed. His right arm was rested against his knee, and a gun dangled from his hand. It was unclear whether or not he intended to use it. He looked different, but the same all at once. There was facial hair growing along his sharp jawline. His dark brown hair was the same. It was almost prince like. That was how Billy fooled people. He was as charming as he was psychotic. Those dark brown eyes haunted her in her sleep.

Sidney was sitting in a chair opposite him. She was paler than usual. She was already a bit paler anyway. She rarely went outside like she used to for this exact reason. The last time she went outside all willy nilly, she ended up in Sam and Tara's mess and reopened wounds she didn't even know she had. "Why are you here, Billy?", she asked, her voice soft with her fear. "How did you even get here?"

He ignored her question altogether. "Where's Nina?" His voice was raspy. It was almost harsh.

"You have two other kids, why are you after mine?", Sidney asked warily.

"Right. The one who trips like she's on acid and the one who tries too hard to live up to her legacy, I know", Billy said with a roll of his eyes. "I'll get to them eventually. But this one is special, because she's ours. I learned a lot in prison, Sid. And I realized that you and me? We were a great team. I don't regret what I did to your whore mother." He looked her dead in the eyes as he said, "I'd do it again." And she knew he was telling the truth. "But I regret what it did to us. I shouldn't have held what that bitch Maureen did against you. But Roman seemed so smart, you know? Guess it was easy for him to prey on the dumb kids, right?" He walked through the house as he spoke. He picked up a family photo. He studied it for a long while. For a moment, he seemed far away. Sometimes, he wondered what it would have been like if he hadn't snapped. Would he have lived a mundane, boring life like his father? Would he have gotten to see his daughters grow up or would they have even existed? Roman Bridger had created Billy Loomis, and he did a damned good job. But who would he have been without him? "Can't believe you let that square ass cop raise my kid. We could've done a better job. You and I, Sidney, were cut from the same cloth." He tossed the picture aside. The glass shattered on impact.
