Chapter 27 ~ Keep it in the Family

"For a second there I wasn't sure you were coming," Elektra jokes, as you catch up with her, the two of you getting into position outside the entrance you had planned to sneak into.

You sigh, wishing for a second you didn't have to until you remember they have Jessica. "Let's just get this over and done with. Cover my six, and I'll cover yours," you reply, the two of you leaning up against the wall on either side of the tall gate.

"As much as you think I don't care about any of this, I do. I went through the exact same shit, so trust me, I know it's no picnic," she says under her breath, and to your surprise, you actually believe her.

You exchange a look with her, one of mutual understanding. "Everyone in position?" Natasha says over the comms, followed by a bunch of different responses. "Affirmative." "Yup." "Yeah." "Mhm."

You countdown over your earpiece, letting everyone know exactly when to make their moves. You and Elektra have quite a bit of grunt work to do, as does everyone else.

The entry point you're at is heavily guarded, and on top of watching her six, you're also going to have to watch her. Her motivations for being here might be genuine, but that still doesn't mean you can trust her to do her job one hundred per cent.

To no one's surprise, they were prepared for you to come, though you have a feeling they might not have anticipated you to have so much backup, definitely not bulletproof backup, or the Winter Soldier anyway.

You help to propel her over the fence, before scaling it yourself. It doesn't take long for the guards to notice your presence, and you both immediately have to take cover behind two different black vans.

You pull a knife out of your belt and readily hold it at an angle. You wait for the first wave of agents to come over to you, and roll under the van, immediately slicing the backs of one of their ankles as they come to find you. She fell to the ground, only gaining more attention as you rolled out from under the other side of the van, where another agent was already waiting for you.

The thing is, you know they don't want to kill you, and have most likely been instructed not to, which does make your job a bit easier. But it also means you can't slip up, so you are on high alert for any kind of spray, dart or injection that could knock you out.

You enter into combat with the agent, and just as she goes to reach for something in her pocket, you grab her hand and twist her wrist backwards, until you hear a snap. You spin her around, pulling her into a chokehold, and grab what she was trying to get out of her pocket, a prepped and ready syringe.

You quickly use it on her instead, stabbing it in her neck, and letting her fall to the ground. Suddenly, you spot another agent in the distance, aiming for Elektra, with what you can assume to be a dart gun. "Elektra, take cover," you shout over to her, who is currently occupied with two agents already. She steps behind one of them just in time, causing them to take the fall for her.

"Thanks," she yells back, as you start fighting off another agent, a man oddly enough. "Anytime," you call out, landing a hard spinning kick to his head, and knocking him out cold.

You glance over to where you had spotted the agent in the distance, but can't see them anywhere. That's where Matt usually comes in handy. You run over to assist her, swiping out the legs of an agent from behind, and punching them hard in the temple once they were down. You take a second to watch as she slams the other one's head into the van, surprisingly not killing them.
