A Race Against Time! (ThomasxNewt) - Completed!

Chapter 24

Explosions led to buildings falling apart causing more mayhem amongst the now war between the safe haven and Niro, both sides not backing down. The Skills fought bravely but we're purposely aimed at by missiles and any deadly weapons. They didn't stand a chance, Tark howled ordering them back and away from the enemy. The inner alpha roared in fury while trying to protect its own and the guardian’s family. Terrance remained hidden holding the pup close to his chest praying his adopted kids were safe. He didn't know how he was going to tell Casey and Dizzy the news but he hoped Nick wasn't dead. 

Elsewhere…

Groaning was the first thing he heard as he tried to sit up but found he couldn't due to a weight so heavy shifted on his back which was heavy enough that it might break his back. Thomas groaned again only to feel something soft under him, he blinked to see an unconscious blond, Newt! 

With the thought that his lover was in need of help, Thomas was awake and trying to find a way out of where they were. He winced as he moved his head to see the building had come down around them. Thankfully a beam above had saved their lives but parts of it was on Thomas' back. A grunt below him alerted him to Newt, a soft blue eye blinked awake while the other was still black/white from the crank scars. 

"Tom-my?" 

"Yeah, it's me, Newt. We are in a little bit of trouble, try not to move much" 

"Easier said than done" Newt murmured, Thomas could only grin leaning down to kiss his lover, Newt complied knowing Thomas couldn't focus and he was stressed so a little reassurance would help. 

"THOMAS! NEWT! CAN YOU HEAR US!?" 

Their kiss broke apart hearing Minho's yell and shifting beside them. Thomas barely moved his head only for a few rocks to be forcibly moved revealing a worried Minho and Gally, both of them holding tools and wearing smiles.

"Hey" Thomas smiled at them while holding his body over Newt’s. His legs on either side of the blond's hips and arms on either side of Newt's head, his body shielding Newt and the unborn from any falling building parts.

"Hey. Hang on a minute we will have you both out of there in jiffy" Gally grunted out as he lifted more of the debris aside. Minho was watching the above and deciding what was steady and unsteady to stand on as Gally removed the debris off Thomas allowing the runner to move but he didn't exactly move all the way as he noticed something. A piece of glass had gone straight through Newt's thigh and the only pressure keeping him from passing out was Thomas himself. 

Gally frowned only to see what Thomas was seeing and he immediately shouted for his pattern. 

"Minho! Medic Kit! Someone get Teresa!" 

The fastest runner immediately threw the medic kit at Gally while he called back to Sonya who nodded, she climbed over debris passed some injured to find Teresa. Both Frypan and Chuck were helping others out of debris along with Chuck’s brothers who watched their little brother with proud eyes.

"No! Newt! Stay awake! Keep your eyes open!" 

"I can't…" 

"You can! Not only for me! But for Jackson and our unborn!" Thomas shook Newt who barely nodded trying his hardest to remain awake. He was struggling with keeping his eyes open as his body was in pain but he would power through for his children. 

"I'm sorry what…?" Gally turned to Thomas who grinned. 

"Minho, Gally. I'm delighted to announce you will be uncles to another kid or maybe godparents" Thomas exclaimed both Gally and Minho grinned before they realised that they needed to get Newt to Teresa not bring her here in an unstable environment. So with quick thinking Minho removed his belt and passed it to Thomas who held Newt while Gally tightened the belt to stop the blood gushing from the wound. As he tightened it, Newt screamed loudly. Thomas tried to muffle it but he couldn't as the building shook with the screams. 

"Move it!" Minho yelled. 

Gally wasted no time in scooping up Newt while shoving Thomas forward through the small open. Minho hauled them through as he moved away himself. All three of them dived just as where they had just been standing was pancaked with the rest of the building. 

Meanwhile…

Alby froze helping Casey with Dizzy's arm, which was in a sling. The door to the room slammed open revealing Terrabce who held a whimpering pup in his arms. Casey frowned when the pup was placed in between him and his sister. Jackson was playing happily on the other side of the room beside Harriett and Aris, both of them watching him carefully while aiming out the window with rifles.

"Watch the pup," Terrance murmured. 

"Why? What's happened? Where's dad?" 

"That's who I'm going to find," Terrance said in a determined tone as he kissed both of their heads before he took off out of the door. 

Casey and Dizzy could only share a look as the pup whimpered, both of them moved to comfort it just as another door opened revealing Teresa, Sonya, Thomas, Minho and Gally who were holding an unconscious Newt. 

"Oh god, what happened?!" Alby immediately moved stuff off a nearby table allowing Gally to settle Newt, a cry had all heads turning to see Jackson running for his parents. Minho immediately scooped him up, keeping him away which led to a tantrum that the runner dealt with very well. Both Gally and Minho shared a look thinking about the adopted little girl they had taken in, they prayed she was safe, Frypan entered the room with Chuck holding a little girl who immediately launched herself at Gally, the builder holding her close before she played with Jackson in the playpen.

Back on the battlefield…

"Sam! We need to pull back! We are losing!" Vince shouted over the gunfire as a Skrill went down in front of them. Tark was growling protecting Jasper and Jorge, both of them trying to contact the rest of the world. Lisa was determined to end the man who had destroyed her life as she snuck up on Niro and aimed for the man's head only for him to whip around at the last second and shoot in her direction. 

"Ah my late wife, how are you these days?" 

"Ready to murder someone" 

"Ah so I ask who?" 

"You for murdering my son and daughter" 

"Son? Do I have to remind you we have two?"

"No you have two. I had one Casey and our daughter who will not be named" Lisa explained. 

Vince and Jorge shared a look, Nick was forgotten about as per usual. Even if the man saved their lives on the occasion, his mother still threw him away like he was trash. 

A howl from the nearby alpha turned heads to see the Skrills backing away, they were retreating.

"Come back and fight!" Lisa yelled only for the alpha to leave with any other surviving Skrills. 

At the same time as the retreat, a rumble and buzzing of aircrafts turned all attention to the back up that the safe haven had requested. Niro frowned, ordering his troops around just as the other craft landed and many individuals ran to shoot back at Niro's army while the safe haven grinned. Jasper winced when one of the Skrills was caught in the crossfire by someone from the safe haven army. Another howl turned attention to a smaller Skrill which had been dropped by the dead one. A pup! Jasper went to move when a body sprinted past him. 

"TERRANCE NO!!!" Jasper's shout had all heads turning to see the young man running, he barely scooped up the pup before a missile struck the same area. 

"TERRANCE!" 

Attention was diverted for a moment, even Thomas, Minho, Harriett and Gally heard as they emerged from the building they were protecting. Smoke rose high into the skies.

Apologies for the delay! Book is much slower than I would have liked. I am trying to expand on this a little bit. Next chapter should be posted within the next two weeks but no guarantee's!
