Taehyung awoke to the creak of the house door and a voice calling for Jimin. Sunlight streamed through the window, revealing a sleeping baby on his stomach and between his legs. After a night of reminiscing about the past, the little boy cried in remorse, while the colonel wept in loss and longing. They eventually drifted off to sleep in that heartfelt embrace.
His smile vanished when the person called Jimin's name again. Without disturbing the sleeping baby, Taehyung gently lifted him, readjusted his position on the bed, and covered him with care. After kissing his forehead, Taehyung quietly left the room, noticing that the young man hadn't experienced a peaceful sleep for years.
Walking toward the footsteps echoing from the stairs, Taehyung faced the Italian young man, whose eyes widened in surprise upon meeting the former colonel's gaze.
"What are you doing here?" Taehyung questioned sharply, refusing to accept the idea of him entering Jimin's house without permission and possessing the spare key.
The Italian froze in his tracks. "Oh."
"I-I came to check on Jimin. He wasn't feeling well yesterday," Valerio stuttered. Taehyung nodded with a hint of understanding.
"He's fine and sleeping now. We want time alone. Don't come back today."
"Okay, happy to see you back together. I'll stop by tomorrow. See you." He smiled lightly and then turned to leave. Valerio had witnessed Jimin's sad days without V. Six months after Jimin opened the jewelry store, he posted a sign on the door looking for a worker. Because he couldn't manage alone.
The job opportunity fell into Valerio's hands as he sought employment to pay for his mother's medications due to her chronic illness. When he shared his struggles with Jimin, he was immediately accepted into the jewelry store, forming a deep friendship that had endured for two and a half years. Valerio proved to be trustworthy.
Despite acknowledging Valerio's goodness, Taehyung, maintains a sharp judgment, couldn't bear the idea of anyone encroaching upon what he considered his own.
After a quick shower and change, Taehyung headed to the kitchen for a midday cup of hot coffee, forgoing breakfast.

Sitting at a small table by the kitchen window, Taehyung sipped his coffee, absorbing the news from the radio. The news anchor's voice filled the room.
'Internationally, several months after the complete end of the war between the two Koreas, both countries are now beginning to restore and develop a new state free of the effects of war...'
He listened quietly, contemplating the events unfolding in his homeland. Despite his animosity towards the South Korean government that had taken his parents, he felt gratitude towards the two individuals who had given life to his beloved Jimin. The war, despite its horrors, had brought them together.
