I stand there, gaping at Mia. Not believing the words that just came out of her mouth. 'What?' I blurted out. 'But don't you love me?' 'Christian, you're scaring me. You're turning into some psychopath, right now.' 'Fuck. I'm so sorry, Mia. Please. Don't go.' 'Christian. I want to. I have my own life.' 'But that was before I met you.' I say, hoping to gain some of her empathy. I know I'm acting like a psychopath and a child right now. But I can't control myself. My mouth is blurting out every single thing possible, like it has a mind of it's own. 'Fuck. I'm sorry Mia. I don't know what's gotten into me. I swear I'm not usually like this. I'm usually more composed. But I love you. I love you so much. I hope you understand that.' 'Yes. I know Christian. But, could you at least give me some time to think this through?' Mia asks. 'Yes. Yes, of course. Of course I will. So long as you promise to never leave me. Please, just promise me this.' I beg her. 'Yes, Christian. Of course. I promise. But for now, let me have my solo voyage, please. I just need some time for myself.'
I look down at the floor, defeated. There's nothing I can say anymore that will make her want to stay here. I already knew from the start, from the first day, that this was bound to happen. But why so soon? When can I even see her again? I know I can just meet her and stuff, but she wants to be alone. I can't disrupt that. 'But.' I start. 'Can you just stay for one more night? Just one more night, please. And I'll let you go. I promise.' I say eagerly, waiting for Mia's response.
After a minute, Mia sighs. 'Fine. Just, one last night. And then I'll leave tomorrow, okay?' 'Okay.' I smile. Mia smiles back warmly.
We spent the rest of the day together. Ordering more food and taking a bath together. This is the last night I'll get with Mia. For now. I'm going to cherish it.
