Chapter 4

I decided to call my mom to tell her about what just happen. She wasn't too thrilled. She didn't want me to give up on school for anything. She preferred that I stopped working and figured out how they could help me pay for school and expenses. 

But that was impossible. I explained to her that the money just wasn't enough to cover my school fees and the cost of the bus.

 My mom didn't want to hear about me quitting school because she believed it was the key to my future. 

She wanted a better chance for me, not for me to end up just cleaning apartments. 

I was facing a big problem, and I didn't know why my life had to be so tough. I also couldn't understand why Mrs Gates treated us so badly, showing such disdain. And why did she show up today? 

Every time, it seemed like she wanted to cut off my opportunities. I just didn't understand why.

 I ended up doing my tasks and forgot about what had happened earlier. It was 7:55 pm, and I was getting ready to close up when I heard the doorbell. 

I sighed it was the weird guy.

 I brushed him of "Sorry, we're closing," I said, not in the mood for any strangeness. 

"I think I know where I know you from" he said.

 I stared at him, exasperated. 

"I'm sorry, it's been a long day, and I don't have time for this weirdness." 

"Your name is Meliah right?" 

"Yes" 

"and your are the daughter of Mirla?" he asked.

 "Yes, Mirla is my mom," I replied. 

"We used to be friends when we were little, although you probably don't remember because you were about four years old. We used to play in the park by the lake.You stopped coming to the park, and I never saw you again..... until now," he explained. 

"Okay," was all I could manage to say because I didn't know what else to say. 

"And how is your mom, Meliah?" he inquired. 

"She's fine," I replied, still feeling weird because he remembered my name. 

"What's your name?" 

"Noah" 

"my name is Noah." 

I honestly didn't remember anyone named Noah.
