Esmeray

I walked to the balcony at the end of the hallway and breathed the fresh air. I lit my cigarette and took a long drag. I take a few more drags and then put it out. I take another one out and do the same.

I don't smoke that often, but when I need to clear my head, I tend to lose track of how much I smoke.

"You know smoking is not good for your health." Said someone from behind me.

I turned around to see Lorenzo standing there. When did he get here?  He stood beside me and took the cigarette from my hand. Then, he did the thing I least expected him to do. He took a drag himself.

"I thought you said that smoking is bad for you."

"It is, but I never said that I don't smoke." He shrugged.

"Fair point." We passed it back and forth, taking drags in silence.

"Sorry for not believing you earlier." He said, barely above a whisper.

"It's ok. I wouldn't believe me either."

"Can I ask you something?" He asked hesitantly.

"Yeah, go ahead."

"Umm...why didn't you come back home sooner?"

"I was told that you guys were killed," I say, taking a deep breath.

"Oh..."

"I should go check on Theo." With that, I left to go check on him.

I walked into the office to see that he was still sleeping peacefully. That's good! He isn't getting a nightmare. I need to talk with Emilio about Dad to see if he knows who killed him.

I walk downstairs and try to find my way to the kitchen for water. I found where the movie theater, gym, living room, and game room is, but not the kitchen.

Where the heck is the fucking kitchen?

"You lost?" Roman asked.

"Yes. I can't find where the Kitchen. I wanted some water."

"Oh! Here it's this way." He showed me to the kitchen and grabbed me a bottle of water from the fridge.

"Thanks." I took the bottle from him and gulped it down. Jeez! I guess I was thirsty.

"No problem." He walked out of the kitchen to wherever he was going.

I sat down on the barstool and thought about what I was going to do now.

After a while, Emilio came in and started to make coffee for himself. He turned around and asked, "You want some?"

"Sure." He turned back around and continued making coffee. I waited for him to finish making coffee before asking anything.  He handed me my mug and sat down in front of me.

"Umm...How was Dad killed?" I said, breaking the silence.

"He was beaten to near death and then shot in the head." He said.

"Do you know who it was?"

"Yeah, it was some guy named Kane, but we never found out who he worked for."

As soon as that name left his mouth, my face paled. That can't be. Not him too.

"Hey, are you ok? What's wrong?" He asked concerned.

"I know who it was," I said.

"What? Who is it?"

"Nevan King."  I gritted out.

"FUCK! It was that old fuck! I am going to kill him." He yelled in anger.

"No," I said calmly.

"WHAT THE FUCK YOU MEAN NO?!!? I AM KILLING THAT BASTARD!" He yelled, standing up.

"NO, YOU ARE NOT BECAUSE I AM!" I yelled back, slamming my hand on the countertop.

By this time, both Lorenzo and Roman came into the kitchen, looking very alarmed by all the yelling.

"What the fuck is going on?" Lorenzo asked seriously.

"We know who killed Dad," Emilio said, more calmly this time.

"Who?" Roman asked.

"Nevan King," I said.

"The Russain?"

"Yes, that old bastard," Emilio confirmed.

"So what are we going to do?" Roman asked.

"I don't yet, but he sure as hell going to pay. Have our team find out everything about him. I want every single detail about him." Emilio ordered.

I could help them by telling them how I know him, but I still don't trust them enough to tell them that information. They may be my brothers, but I just met them today, and for all I know, they can use that information against me.

"Guys, the world can't know that the mafia princess is back and alive. You hear me?" I said, getting their attention.

"Ok, but why can't they know?" Roman asked.

"Because I need to stay hidden from people."

"Who are you hiding from? We can help you." Emilion said.

"I know you can help me that is why I am here, but you don't need to know who."

"So what are we supposed to do then?" Lorenzo asked.

"All you guys need to do is protect Theo from anyone and everyone that tries to hurt him. You don't have to worry about me, I can take care of myself." I said.

"We can protect you too, just tell us from whom," Emilio said.

"I don't need your protection, nor your help. I need you to keep Theo safe from everything." I said sternly, ending the discussion there and walking out of the house.
