Eun-woo had been running from those dead...people? Corpses? Were they zombies!? She wanted to cry, but she didn't. She couldn't. Absolutely not. At least not yet. Maybe when this was over. If she even survived, that is.
Running wasn't really her thing, but she had managed to reach the girls bathroom and run inside. Eun-woo quickly closed the door, breathing heavily. She froze when she heard voices, and her eyes widened.
"We should stay here a bit longer."
It was a male. Senior, perhaps.
"Right. Okay."
Female. Also senior. She plugged her nose, the smell of someone smoking was intoxicating. She hated the smell. She had very sensitive smelling, just like her sister. Why must they be cursed with that?
"Do you think they're gone?" The male voice asked, and Eun-woo wanted oh so desperately to let them know she was there. But she wouldn't. She didn't.
"What do we do?" The girl asked. "Shouldn't we go out and call the cops?"
Eun-woo didn't listen to the rest. She smelled rotten flesh. Someone was bit. Her eyes widen as she held back a squeak.
"Also, who the heck is smoking
in here right now?" The male asked."And who are you that you're hiding
in the girls' bathroom, huh?"Another senior. She sounded...familiar.
"Be a man. If you can even do that." The girl scoffed.
"You… Who are you?" The male asked, skeptism ever present in his voice. If the way his voice shook was ever present enough...
"Leave her alone. It's Mi-jin."
Mi-jin! Eun-woo knew her! She was the one who smoked! Eun-woo saw her a couple times, met her a few times... She was her sisters classmate after all. Hyun-ok and Mi-jin were sisters, just like Eun-woo was to Na-yeon. Na-yeon...Eun-woo hoped her sister was okay. Na-yeon was prone to act rude and selfish, but really she just wanted their parents approval. Still, there was no justification to the way she acted. Their parents never seemed to approve anyways...they were always busy, too busy for their children.
She was pulled from her thoughts when she saw Mi-jin stabbing the newly zombified girl in the jaw. Eun-woo almost wanted to vomit, the smell intoxicating.
She wouldn't die. The zombie wouldn't die. Eun-woo started to panic. If she had a weapon, she would stab its brain, but she had nothing. Why would she? It's not like she knew that a zombie apocalypse was about to happen.
An arrow pierced through the zombie's neck, and Eun-woo gasped, jumping back in shock.
"What…" Mi-jin was confused, and at that moment, two archers entered.
The female pointed her bow at their heads, narrowing her eyes as the male stood a bit to the side.
Eun-woo recognized them. She gasped and immediately flung herself to the female Archer. "Ha-ri!"
Usually Ha-ri hated physical contact. However, she made an exception and hugged Eun-woo back. She always thought of the smaller girl like a sister. That's what they pretty much were. They spent so much time together. Eun-woo's parents were never home, so she spent majority of her time with Ha-ri, more than Na-yeon.
Ha-ri then shoved Eun-woo away and pointed her bow back at them.
Mi-jin glared at them, "Not us, jackass!"
Eun-woo held back her laughter.
"Hey, I think they're okay." Min-jae said softly. "Zombies don't curse."
"Shoot if they turn." Ha-ri instructed. Eun-woo leaned against the sink, folding her arms and watched as Mi-jin cursed at the taller girl.
"You crazy bitch. We're fine--"
She got cut off when the speakers made an awful noise. Eun-woo covered her ears and winced in pain. She went over to Ha-ri, and the older girl held her in her arms.
"Students and teachers of Hyosan High School." Ms. Park's voice came on through the intercom. I could tell by Mi-jin's expression that she recognized the teacher. "I'm Park Sun-hwa, the English teacher. Something strange is happening throughout the school. Some students are attacking others indiscriminately. So please flee and find a safe place. And if any student or faculty hears this and is able to, please call the police and the fire department. Students, hide somewhere safe until help arrives. If you can get out of the school, please get out. I'll say it again. Some students are…" She didn't continue. Eun-woo could tell by the soft sniffles and voice crack that her teacher was starting to cry. She didn't realize she had been crying until Ha-ri wiped her tears and held her closer. "Hey, everyone… You're okay, right? You're not hurt? I don't know what's going on in here or how this whole thing happened, but… Still, find a safe place and hide. I… I'm sorry… I can't help." Ms. Park sobbed as she spoke through the speakers. Eun-woo could tell that Mi-jin was trying her best to not become emotional as well. "Don't get hurt, okay? Please, let's stay alive and meet again. Okay?"
Eun-woo turned to Ha-ri and leaned her head against her chest, sobbing. The older girl held her close, stroking her hair softly.
