Saving the South Island!

Mystic Jungle: The betrayal

We entered the Mystic Jungle. It was definitely a calm environment but there was always this air of uncertainty and eeriest as we crept through, Knuckles seemed weirded out but confident in where he was leading us. I remained close to him for a large portion of our walk, we eventually got to an open clearing and settled down for the night, it was odd that this spot was without fog or moving vines, for protection I set up another ring to guard us although this one wasn't as strong as the last. We cooked and ate the last of our food, Knuckles cleaned everything up and sat beside me as I stared at the small fire.
"...So. What's next after this? You said you are a world adventurer correct? Your home is close? You seem to know a lot about these areas and seemed to have a reputation at that tavern, are you constantly fighting?"
"Hmmm... What's next... Wherever the wind takes me! Eggman is always up to something, and I won't stop until he completely gives up! I do travel the world; I've seen everything but I'm really lucky to get to help you! I've always wondered what the floating Island was like and I'm excited to help restore it! I live fairly close. Angels Island. Its right off of Knothole. There're always bad guys, some very deceiving with silver tongue and kindness while others are just angry for no reason and want that clout yaw know? What about you? Just going to restore the island?"

We chatted for the night and eventually fell asleep beside each other while the fire burned out. When morning came or what I believe was morning the area was enveloped with fog, I didn't see Knuckles beside me nor did I hear him, where did he go? I got up and got dressed, checking around the area I noticed the protective barrier was broken and all of our things were missing, I had to hope nothing happened to him.
"Knuckles? Knuuuuckles! Hm. Hopefully nothing bad happened to him... I gotta get out of here." Foolishly of me I trusted myself to just run blindless forward until I hit a wall, every so often I left a mark on a rock or the ground just to make sure I didn't loop, luckily, I wasn't looping through the same zones. However. I felt like I was running for hours and not making any progress that was until I ran into someone new, a cloaked being who stopped my running and grabbed my wrist. 
"Are you looking for this man?"
The cloak showed me a picture of Knuckles. I nodded my head yes. They handed me a small screen and hit play showing Knuckles taking out the barrier along with taking all the things with it, audio of him saying something along the lines of getting a head start on taking the emerald for himself. Was he... Tricking me? He did make a comment last night about deceiving villains was he one? What if he was making it all up? Being a hero... What if there was no Eggman? What if he was setting me and my people up this whole time? How could he do this to me?! How could he be so cruel and heartless?! The cloaked figure waved me on to follow, I think I was being set free from this prison, so I followed. I got to talk to the figure and got a name, Breezie. She seemed very nice. She didn't say where she was from, where she was heading or why she was here, but she only wanted to help me.

Eventually we exited the Jungle and walked to a machine that looked like it could fly, Breezie asked me to get in and sit down so she could help me find the new evil mastermind, Knuckles. I was hesitant. But. I had nothing to lose. I sat down and was immediately handed flowers, one inhale and I started feeling sleepy, not long after we took off, I passed out. 

We entered one of my favorite places to visit, The Mystic Jungle! Sure, it was weird here, but I loved grinding down the vines to travel across the huge jungle, nothing ever happened with me! We settled down in a nice little spot for the night and had the rest of our food, man, Soni knew how to cook! She asked me some questions about what was next in my book, honestly, I wanted to relax but I mostly wanted to help her rebuild her island! So much history to fix and write stories about, how could I not? Eventually we both fell asleep, and I almost fell asleep on her lap, I wouldn't have minded! A cute girl like that? Maybe when this was all over, I'd ask her out on a date, some chili dogs and grapes, summer sun and up wayyyyy in the sky, sounds like a perfect date!
When I woke up in the morning Soni was missing and all of her things were here, I gathered everything and left the site looking for her to the best of my ability, but there was no sign of her anywhere.
"Soooooooni! Heyyyy! Pretty Bluuuuuue~! I warned you... I hope nothing broke through her barrier and grabbed her. I gotta keep looking!"
I continued my search. High and low. Eventually I found something or someone moving around in the thick mist, I did my best to trail them but lost them too quickly. They seemed to be covering something everywhere I traced them. Odd. 

I left the Jungle and found a machine taking off from the outside, getting a closer look, it seemed to show Soni was on board of said machine and the logo was none other than Eggman. What did he want with her?! He already took everything from her and now this. Like lightning speed, the ship took off with my only option to chase after, lucky for me, the jungle spilled out into his Egg Fortress. Looking at it in the distance, it was lighting up that same green as that Master Emerald Soni was hunting for, what was he trying to power? More robots? A death machine? I had to find out. Don't' worry Soni! Knuckle the Echidna is on his way to save the day!
