A/N: Warning - Includes rough sex, slight non-con
"(Y/N)... what did I tell you about being nice to inmates." Wriothesley's icy glare cut straight through me, making me feel so small. I felt myself shrink under his gaze, I tried my best not to show how small I felt so he wouldn't think poorly of me...more than he already does, I imagine.
"Not to." I begrudgingly forced past my teeth.
"And did you heed my advice?" A long stretch of silence hung between us. I was unsure of how I should answer. It's not that I ignored his advice outright but being mean and rude directly conflicted with my values and how I was raised. It was even harder to argue with how much the inmates praised me for being a ray of sunshine in the dark, grittiness of the Fortress of Meropide.
"I'll just cut to the chase then. You aren't cut out for this place. I don't have time to wait for you to toughen up, your softness puts yourself and others at risk. " Wriothesley always had a sharp tongue, something I had hoped to avoid at all cost but here I was in the cross hairs of his direct nature. His words hurt but they weren't necessarily untrue and that's what I hated most.
"No...y-you're wrong. I can-." The timid girl I once was peaked through as I spoke but I couldn't let him decide who I am even if his assumptions were founded in some observable facts. Either way, he wasn't interested in excuses.
"Listen. you're a nice girl and all, to your own detriment, but your strengths lie elsewhere." His eyes traveled up and down my body as if he was calculating my entire existence. I felt less than human when he looked at me and I hated it. He always brought a chill to my bones and unsettled my spirit in ways that were hard to articulate. He was direct and witty, his personality took up so much space and never yielded to anything or anyone else. It was easy to mistake him for a bully. "How did you end up here anyway?"
"At the Fortress of Meropide?"
"As a guard in general." He raised an eyebrow with a smirk and I found myself a little perplexed by his question. Unsure of how to answer, I gave him the short answer. I'm sure that's what he would have wanted anyway.
"My family has a long history of serving Fontaine." He hummed an acknowledgment, seemingly unsatisfied by my answer. Then again, that could have been my own projection since he was often hard to read.
"I'll tell you what, I'll let you be my assistant. Saves you from having to admit your failure for a little while longer."
"But-"
"Or you can go back to the over world, duty unfulfilled with an in-depth report of your inability to properly do your job." I was livid. Trembles of fear turned to that of anger but as his subordinate what could I say in retaliation that would change my situation. I held back tears and I swallowed my pride as I accepted the less than glamorous job.

"Sigewinne asked me to bring this to you." I walked into Wriothesley's office, a dubious looking drink in one hand and a thick file folder in the other. A small part of me hoped he would drink it just so that I could see him suffer a tiny bit. Tension had been particularly high as of late. Long stressful days ran into sleepless nights as extra paperwork flowed into the Fortress of Meropide. Wriothesley wasn't normally what people would call a 'nice person' but he was even worse under stress and minimal sleep. Dealing with his outbursts and shortness took its toll on me but I tried to endure despite it all. Working so closely with him brought out a more... troublesome side that I didn't realize I had.
"Put the drink over there." He points to a table on the far side of the room.
"Sigewinne will be sad if you don't drink it."
