Battle Brief passed by quickly and so did lunch. Soon it was time for Dragons with Professor Kaori. Maya was particularly excited. I remember being 7 or 8 years old and seeing Mama and Papa's dragons and how beautiful they were, I've always wanted to be a rider since then.

Professor Kaori directed a picture to a wall. As I fixated my gaze on the holographic projection, the image of the White Morningstartail materialized before me, captivating my senses and capturing my imagination. In this projected form, the White Morningstartail appeared as a breathtaking vision of beauty and strength.

The holographic projection depicted the White Morningstartail as a magnificent creature, its entire being emanating an ethereal luminescence. Its scales, a pure and radiant white, seemed to glow with a gentle inner light, casting a soft and enchanting glow in the simulated environment.

"A white morningstartail, is considered the mother of all dragons, there is only one of her species, she hasn't bonded since her rider died a couple hundred years ago, but we aren't learning about her today," Professor Kaori explains. The images cuts and a lizard appears on the wall. "We're learning about lizards,"

My brows furrowed in confusion, I raised my arm. "Professor, we're going to be riding dragons not lizards," I question.

"You can ride my lizard," Brennan mumbles. The class bursts into a laugh.

The blood rushes to my cheeks, the blush intensifies, casting a visible glow upon my skin. It's as if a thousand tiny flames have ignited beneath the surface, causing my complexion to radiate with an undeniable flush. The rosy hue starts at the apples of my cheeks, gradually extending to cover the entire expanse, leaving no corner untouched by this involuntary display of emotion.

"Miss Mairi, believe me I haven't got the slightest clue why we're learning about lizards but I have to teach what half your parents tell me to teach," she sighs.

"And as for you, Mr Sorrengail, I'd appreciate it if you could leave your inappropriate jokes for outside my class," she continues.

"Yes Maam," I could practically hear the smirk in his voice. Gods he was so frustrating. I wanted to just punch his perfect face, punch those perfect eyes of his and his perfect cheekbones and his perfect lips. I wanted to drag him by his perfect hair. He was so perfect.

Professor Kaori delved into the intricate details of the lizard's anatomy and behavior, my initial frustration began to fade. The more I listened, the more I realized the importance of understanding these creatures, even if they weren't the majestic dragons I had always dreamed of riding. Lizards, it seemed, had their own unique set of qualities and capabilities, deserving of our respect and admiration.

As the class progressed, I couldn't help but steal occasional glances at Brennan, the source of my earlier embarrassment. His mischievous grin and carefree demeanor seemed to contrast with the serious atmosphere of the classroom. Despite my annoyance towards him, there was an undeniable magnetic pull, an inexplicable fascination that made it difficult to look away.

Turns out there's a lot more common between dragons and lizards then I thought.

Professor Kaori dismissed the class, I had a question I wanted to ask her so I told Maya to go ahead to dinner.

"Professor, the white morningstartail, what's her name?" I ask.

"Rhaegal, I'm not one to believe in rumours but she might be present during Threshing, she hasn't wanted to bond in over a century, but this year she might," She replied.

"Thanks, Professor," I say with a smile.

As I stepped out of Professor Kaori's classroom, the image of the White Morningstartail lingered in my mind. The bustling sounds of the school faded into the background.

The White Morningstartail, with its luminescent scales and graceful presence, seemed to exist in a realm beyond imagination.

Apparently, I was too engrossed in my thoughts I didn't notice the fact the the floor was wet, I had kept my rubber sole shoes under my bed leaving them to dry. So these shoes weren't as gripping as the others. My footing slipped and I went flying backwards. My eyes screwed shut.

I slowly braced for the impact, that never came. Instead two strong arms wrapped around my waist, keeping me stable. Gradually, I allowed my eyes to open. They were met with a pair of blue eyes. I blinked rapidly realising that this was our wingleader. I hurriedly got up and let go of his shirt, which I didn't know I was holding.

"Look where you're going next time, I won't be there to save you every time," Brennan says. He lets go and walks over to the mess. I walk towards Maya and sit down with her and Bella.

"The weirdest thing happened, I almost fell and Bren- our wingleader caught me before I fell," I say still in shock of his actions.

Maya and Bella shared a glance, "He so has a thing for you," Bella sighs.

I shook my head and spared a look towards Brennan, he caught my eyes and winked but turned around to face his friends with a grin.

"What was that?" Maya questions. "Nothing"

"That was not nothing, he just winked at you," Bella gasps and whispers " He definitely has a thing for you,"

"No he doesn't"
