Chapter 14

ZACH'S POV

I woke up to my phone ringing, I felt around in my bed trying to locate where it was. I finally found my phone, picking it up I realized it was only 1:17 a.m. but I quickly woke up when I saw who was calling.

"Hello?" I spoke trying to shake off the grogginess.

There was no answer on the other end of the phone, just heavy breathing. I immediately sat upright in bed.

" Brynn baby, are you okay?"

I heard choke back a sob

"I'm coming" I stated.

"I'm sorry" she sobbed into the phone "I shouldn't have woken you up, I'll let you go back to bed"

"It's okay, I'm on my way."

I placed my phone on speaker and hopped out of bed. Throwing back on the jeans and t-shirt I was wearing I slipped on a pair of socks and stumbled towards the front door. I slipped my feet into my boots and threw on a hat and headed out the door.

I continued to chat with Brynn on the short drive over to her place just to make sure she was okay. When I arrived she was already waiting by the front door for me. Once I stepped inside and closed the door behind me I enveloped her in a hug. She collapsed into me sobbing into my chest. I held her tightly and stroked her hair.

"I'm sorry, I just needed you"

"It's okay, I will come whenever you need me"

"Will you stay the night?" she asked innocently.

"Of course" I nodded.

She grabbed my hand and led me towards the bedroom, she was still visibly shaking. Once in the bedroom I slipped off my jeans and t-shirt and slipped under the covers. After Brynn slid under the covers I grabbed her gently around the waist and pulled her towards me, I snaked my arm under her head and breathed in the smell of her hair. Brynn immediately relaxed into me and the shaking started to subside.

"Thank you" she murmured.

I kissed her head and we drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

I woke up and checked the time on my phone 5:34 a.m. I really did not want to get up but I had to get to work. I looked down and our arms and legs were intertwined and she was sleeping so peacefully, I really did not want to leave this bed. I placed a kissed on her shoulder and she rolled to look at me.

"How long have you been awake?" she asked groggily.

"Just a few minutes" I replied.

She snuggled her face into the crook of my neck.

"You're so warm" she murmured into my collar bone.

I laughed in response and pulled her closer to me.

"I'm sorry Brynn, but I really have to go, I have to get to the studio"

"It's okay" she replied "I have an opening shift today and should be getting up anyways"

"Okay, I can drop you off" I informed her

We both got up and got ready for the day before heading out the door and getting into the Bronco. I got her situated in the passenger seat and headed off towards the diner. I gave her a kiss before she headed off to work.

"Have a good day" she smiled.

"You too baby, I can pick you up after work"

I watched until she got inside the diner and waved at Grace who smiled and waved back.
