Title: Bond (Part 1)

- Kageyama -

I was practising my toss with Hinata when a girl stumbled into the gym. Everyone stopped practising and looked at her. "Uh hi, may I know where Hitoka Yachi is? I'll be out of your way soon," she said, nervously looking around.

"Oi Kageyama. Do you like her or something? You're pretty distracted," Hinata stated, waving his hand in front of my face. I blinked out of my trance and continued practice. "Kageyama, can you come over here for a second?" Yachi requested. I excused myself from practice and made my way to her.

"Yes?" I asked. "This is Y/N L/N. She's the ace of the girls' volleyball team. She has something to say," she said with a smile, gesturing to the nervous girl before me. I examined her features. She had long silky dark blue hair and berry blue eyes. She looked kind of pretty if I'm being honest.

"U-Uh-- Y-Yachi--" she protested but Yachi had disappeared somewhere. "What did you want to tell me?" I ask trying to ease the girl's nerves. She took a deep breath and stared at me determined.

"The way you toss is a little slow. Try unstiffening your body, make it look natural you know?" she said with a smile. "Why don't you show me so I can understand better?" I requested, curiosity rising. How good can she be? Yachi doesn't normally interrupt practice unless she thinks it's important.

She nodded and headed to Hinata. She seemed to be familiar with him and whispered something in his ear. Hinata nodded eagerly and ran to the end of the court. He ran to the net and jumped just as L/N tossed the ball. It hit his hand perfectly and it was in one swift movement.

"There. Do you understand better?" she asked jogging to me, panting. I nodded and handed her a towel. "I'll try to replicate it," I said, giving her a smile. She flinched but I chose to ignore it.

- Y/N -

'His smile is a little scary, to be honest. But something about him... is... interesting?' I thought as I watched him walk away. He tried mimicking the move I did earlier but failed. He stared at his hands irritatedly, probably feeling conflicted as well. I decided to give him the one thing I always hoped for when I failed.

"YOU CAN DO IT KAGEYAMA!!" I say with a big smile. Encouragement, support, and a smile are all I ever asked for. He looks at me surprised but soon returns a smile. A genuine, kind-looking smile. 'His smile is so attractive...' I thought with a gentle smile as I watched him try again and again.

-- TIMESKIP --

That's how I first met Kageyama. Two total strangers soon became close friends, who shared a special bond of trust. "Tobio!!" I shouted from the bleachers. He looked up at me and gave me a wave. He was having his rematch against Aoba Johsai, so I decided to attend his match since I had some free time.

Halfway through the game, he looked really stressed when he had to do the serve. 'He always gets nervous before a serve but he doesn't really show it,' I thought. 'What did I ever ask for in these sort of moments?' I thought as I watched him walk out of the court for his serve.

== FLASHBACK ==

I was losing badly. I messed up all my spikes and serves. I made so many sloppy passes that couldn't be repented for. I looked up at the bleachers. What a surprise. They aren't there. My parents said they would come but they never did.

My brother was there cheering me on. But all I really wanted was to show how much effort I put into making it to finals. But they didn't even bother showing up. In a way, I guess it's best. They'd just think I'm even more of a loser than they thought.

I just wanted the support of the 2 people I loved the most. My parents. I never got to see their proud smiles. I never got to see them cheering me on. I never got any form of encouragement as other kids got. It was just my brother. Never will I ever do the same to anyone I love.

== END OF FLASHbACK ==

"YOU CAN DO THIS, TOBIO!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!" I shout from the bleachers with a smile. Encouragement, support, and a smile are all I ever asked for. Never will I ever do the same thing my parents did to anyone I love.

In the end, Karasuno won. The match brought me to tears. After the game, I ran down to him and hugged him. He almost fell but he caught me and returned the hug. "You did it, Tobio," I say with a smile. "Thanks. Your support really helped, my love," he said giving me a kiss on the forehead.

"MY LOVE??!!" The whole team exclaimed in surprise and shock. "You didn't tell them?" I questioned. "No? I didn't see the need to--" he said sweatdropping. I sighed and giggled at his reaction. "So smart yet so stupid," I mutter under my breath as I turn to the team. "We're dating,"

"Well, we know that now," Sugawara sweatdropped. We all laughed before I congratulated the whole team. This was more than a win. This is a way of overcoming a burden they carried ever since they lost to Aoba Johsai. I was happy they all looked so relieved.

I was also very happy that I met Kageyama and the Karasuno VBC. If I didn't come find Yachi that day, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have met Kageyama. Can you imagine? A life without Tobio.

"I love you, Tobio," I told him with a kiss. Although he creates a tough exterior, he's just been through a rough past. I want him to know that I'll always be there for him.

He kissed back. "I love you too, Y/N,"

EXTRA:

"AWWWW THEY'RE SO CUTE~," Sugawara said. Daichi dragged him out of the court. "Let's give them some space, Cupid," he said. Sugawara laughed at the nickname. "But I'm not wrong am I?"
