The next morning at breakfast the group sat at their own table. The first to arrive was Benjamin and Keru, followed by Bella and Pietro who sat down still processing the news from the night before. A few more minutes later Reylyn and Faelynn sat down. Reylyn was still mostly asleep but slowly waking up.
"Bella, are you doing ok?" Pietro asks worried
"I'm fine." Bella says slightly angry
Faelynn spoke up to try and break the tension. "We have training in an hour, so if you're gonna eat, do it now."
Bella quietly ate her breakfast next to her brother who was doing the same.
"I'm going to go train now…" Bella says quietly standing up from the table.
Bella walks out of the room
Pietro watches Bella leave
Bella picks up her Katana
"Hey Relyn do you wanna spar?" Bella asks confidently
"Nein, I'm going to make sure the wings are rigged right. Plus, I haven't used them in a minute." Reylyn said, stretching his arms as he stood up, adjusting the harness with a black box attached to the back.
"Feel free to watch if you want." He'd say as he walked up to the roof of the base.
"Oh boy, here we go." Faelynn said as he jogged outside of the base to watch, Benjamin and Keru followed behind him.
"This should be interesting," Bella says, intrigued.
"Let's go." Pietro say calmly
Bella and Pietro follow the others out of the base.
Reylyn stood on the roof, some other soldiers were up there, practicing looking through the sights of their snipers. They all looked up as Reylyn put a clear visor on, tapping the side as it lit up with a slight glow.
"Alright…looks like everythings online and functional.. let's take her for a drive." Reylyn mumbled to himself as he took a few steps back, taking a breath before getting a running start towards the edge of the building. The other soldiers looked at him slightly confused and concerned about what he was doing. Once he made it to the edge he jumped off, two metal wings opened from the box and he shot up into the sky, doing a flip and flying forward extremely fast, curving and circling over the base.
"I'll be damned, he still knows how to use them." Faelynn said with a proud smirk as he used one of his hands to shield his eyes from the sun.
Some of the 141 soldiers saw what Reylyn was doing and looked up in astonishment, they had never seen something like that before and soon word got to Price who came outside to see for himself.
"What in the world?.." Price said in bewilderment.
"Oh hello Mr. Price. " Bella said laughing at Price's confusion.
"How- is this what Kate meant by differently??" Price said, taking off his hat with a look of surprise over his face as Reylyn swooped down over their heads before going back up again, the wings curling around him as he shot up like a torpedo.
"Yes sir. This is what Kate meant." Pietro said still watching Reylyn flying
"Bloody hell…" Price said, watching still.
After a few moments Reylyn swooped down again, landing safely. A small dust cloud cleared behind him.
"One hell of a time, I missed it, to be honest." Reylyn said as the wings closed again.
