Ch. 27 Plan B

Sayo POV

With the dead guards now put away, and most of not all the blood cleaned up, I was ready to make an escape attempt. Hopefully, nobody gets suspicious of a female guard though.....And the potential Imperial Arms I had in my right pocket....
      As I walked down the hall, two guards had walked by me, one nodded as I nodded back.....Once they were behind me I let out a quiet sigh......After I sighed, I looked at how much further I have. Too much longer.....Jesus these hallways are long.......With the exact same palette of velvet red for the carpet and purple drapes up near the windows. Once I reach the end of the hallway, I turn left to find a similarly lengthy hallway but this one had what looked to be a staircase at the end of it. I took a look around to see if anyone else was around which there wasn't, this caused me to get this surge of adrenaline and run down the hall, big clothing and all. As I ran, I felt this light smile form on my face.....I thought I could make it!!! I thought I co-.

"HEY SOLDIER!!!!!! STOP RIGHT THERE!!!!!"

Just then, I stopped in place....I couldn't move a muscle anymore.......It was all shaking......Why am I shaking after hearing that voice? But that voice, that female voice.....Oh god......I shift my body along the carpet, barely turning my body to even shoot a glance at that woman......And once I got a good look, let's just say, my blood had gone cold.....The feeling of numbness had come back....But rather than fear......I started to feel anger in me.....

"You in a hurry or something?"

The blue haired woman walked up to me, she stopped about five feet in front of me. She did not look happy....She had this look of frustration, with a small amount of confusion.

"I have something coming up....General...."

"What must be so important for you to leave your position??!?!????"

"I had......An altercation with my children General!"

"Your children???? How did you even receive information about them????"

"I had heard them through other guards General!"

"Your work is more important than that of your children or of your lover!"

"I'm sorry yet it is extremely important to me! You must have someone special General....."

"I do not actually....."

Esdeath's blunt response kind of caught me by surprise, she must of had some kind of lover back home, yet her response was quick and honest.

"Oh....Uh......Then I shall get going.....Off to find other guards....."

"Will you actually do that? Or are you just trying to secretly escape?"

"Escape? No, I wouldn't escape! What makes you say that?"

"Because your voice sounds familiar....."

Ah shit.......

"Plus, it's rare to see any female guards around....."

The general had gotten close to me, too close. Her eyes staring into me as a lion stares a lone deer. At this point, I know the general is on to me....The question is when will she say it?

"Your eyes..........Your face.............."

"Is there something wrong general?"

She stands there in silence while I rub my right arm, feeling her glare like a thousand arrows hitting me in the back. Right now, I was terrified and started bracing myself for the worst, closing my eyes, not even wanting to look at her anymore.
      Then, I just felt my body be pushed ever so gently, I stumble back, but not enough to fall over. The general sighs saying,

"Nevermind.......I lost my train of thought.....Back to what you were doing guard....."

As the general turned around, I was left dumbfounded, I could've sworn she was on to me! She was about to rat me out and then kill me, well, maybe not. She would probably torture me slowly. Wait, what am I doing???? I need to get out of here!!!!! Unbeknownst to me, I was being watched. By someone who did know who I was.........I just couldn't see them....

Mine POV

The search was long and tedious, my initial thought was that we weren't going to find them out there, but just as I had my hopes down, I spotted something on the left side. It looked to be some smoke rising up, it had to be them. I told Akame who was right behind me,

"I found them!"

"Where?"

I pointed to the smoke coming up from the trees.

"Let's go."

(M/n) POV

My body let out some strong coughs in response to what Susanoo had done.

"What the fuck man?????"

"That should get their attention."

"I guess that works but man, at least wait until I am out of the way!"

"Is there a problem?"

The blue haired man, seemed to finally acknowledge my presence. But I also felt like he was staring right through me, not looking directly at me, instead seeing if there was anything behind me.

"No.......I just......Nevermind....."

      I backed away from the guy, covering my mouth from the smoke while I did so. I went back over to my tent only to find Leone sitting down near my spot.

"Leone? You ok?"

"I'm fine (M/n) just thinking about Sayo....."

"Hey......I'm sure she's fine.......She's stronger than any of us know...."

"I don't know....I....."

      I get down on one knee next to Leone. I reach my hand out, wanting to put my hand on her shoulder. Leone softly says to me,

"It's ok....."

      My hand does pat her left shoulder quickly and gently. I do drop my other knee before sitting on the ground alongside Leone.

"Sayo and I have known each other for a while so......She does got some tricks up her sleeve usually....But......."

I say nothing as Leone leans her head on my right shoulder.

"I know that my family would be shocked at what I've become."

"Would they?"

"Yeah.....But I don't know if they would want to see me like this.....Being aligned with the revolutionary army........Being a part of Noght Raid....."

"This is your home now though isn't it?"

"The main family I need and want now.....Is Night Raid......"

      My lips curl up into a smile as me and Leone just sit together in silence.......Although it was brief, I enjoyed having these peaceful moments to get away from the war we're in now.

"(M/n)!!!!! Leone!!!! It's us!!!!!"

      Annnnndddd I spoke too soon, welp, guess it's time to go.....As me and Leone got off the ground and took a look outside. I could see Leone just trying to get closer to me. I just chuckle a bit as we see Mine and Akame arrive.

Sayo POV

      It has been a while since I have rode a horse but, I have gotten used to it. The swaying it would do, the bobbing of its head, and its tipsy shaking wasn't helping.
      The impression was that I thought I was alone while riding my bike in this admittedly hot and heavy armor outfit. Unfortunately, my luck had changed for the worst. A few horseback riders from behind me had started to gain speed. Thankfully we were out here away from the capital, but in some ways, it was worse as there could be Danger Beasts running a mock. On the first horse in front, was a crazed looking doctor.

"Get her!!!!!! THE GIRL FROM NIGHT RAID IS GETTING AWAY!!!!!"
