As the autumn days turned cooler and the leaves continued to fall, Nabi and Minho's unexpected encounter near the school garden marked the beginning of a friendship that would slowly, yet steadily, grow.
Their conversations became a regular occurrence. They met during lunch breaks, after school, and sometimes even on weekends. Nabi was reserved but warm, her thoughtful nature complementing Minho's outgoing personality. It was an unusual pairing, but they found common ground in their shared love for books, sports, and dreams of a bright future.
One sunny Saturday afternoon, Nabi invited Minho to her family's luxurious estate. She had never revealed her family's immense wealth to anyone, but there was something about Minho that made her want to share her world with him. Her mansion stood amidst a vast expanse of manicured gardens, an oasis of opulence hidden away in the heart of the city. As they strolled through the sprawling grounds, Nabi explained her family's conglomerate business, which included telecommunications, real estate, and international investments.
Minho was awestruck by the grandeur of it all but remained down-to-earth. "Your family must be very successful," he remarked, his eyes taking in the beauty of the estate.
Nabi nodded, a hint of melancholy in her eyes. "Yes, they are. But it's not something I like to talk about at school. I prefer to be known for who I am, not for my family's wealth."
Minho respected her wishes and refrained from probing further. He appreciated Nabi's humility, which only made him admire her more.
As the weeks passed, their friendship deepened. Nabi opened up about her family, revealing that although she came from a wealthy background she preferred to keep it a secret, so no one at school knew. Minho, in turn, confided in her about his dream of becoming a successful idol and his gruelling training schedule. He shared how he had decided to accept the offer of becoming a trainee as his father did not want him to pursue a career in soccer, his father being a successful and well-known soccer player and coach. They found comfort in each other's company, sharing their hopes, fears, and aspirations.
But beneath the surface, there were hints of something more profound brewing. Their stolen glances and lingering touches spoke of an unspoken connection, a magnetic pull that neither of them fully understood. It was as if the universe itself had conspired to bring them together, two souls from different worlds drawn inexplicably closer.
One crisp afternoon, as they sat together on the same bench that had witnessed their first meeting, Minho couldn't contain his curiosity any longer. He turned to Nabi, his eyes searching hers. "Nabi, there's something I've been wanting to ask you."
Nabi looked at him with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. "What is it, Minho?"
With a nervous yet determined smile, Minho confessed, "I've enjoyed spending time with you, Nabi. You're different from anyone I've ever met, and I can't help but feel a special connection between us. Do you feel it too?"
Nabi's heart raced as she considered his words. She had felt the same unexplainable connection, but she had been hesitant to acknowledge it. "Yes, Minho," she admitted softly, her hazel eyes locking onto his. "I feel it too."
Their admission hung in the air like a promise, binding them together in ways they couldn't yet comprehend. The autumn leaves continued to fall around them, and the cool breeze whispered secrets only they could hear.
Little did they know that their growing friendship would soon face unexpected challenges, leading to a series of events that would forever change the course of their lives.
Meanwhile, in the shadows, a figure watched their friendship with a mixture of jealousy and resentment. Kim Sooya, Nabi's best friend, harboured a secret of her own. She had been secretly in love with Minho for years, and Nabi's growing closeness to him stung her like a thorn in her heart. Sooya, with her striking beauty and charismatic personality, had always been the centre of attention, but Minho's fascination with Nabi was a bitter pill to swallow.
Sooya pretended to be Nabi's confidante, all the while seething with jealousy and resentment. She knew that her feelings for Minho were wrong, but she couldn't help herself. As Nabi and Minho's friendship blossomed, Sooya's hatred festered in the shadows, threatening to unravel the delicate threads of their connection.
Unknown to Minho and Nabi, the path they were embarking on was fraught with hidden emotions, unspoken desires, and the tangled web of a friendship that was teetering on the brink of collapse.
