Chapter 12 - The Extravagant End of Year Party

Nabi's End of Year Party was an extravagant affair, a celebration of a successful year thanks in no small part to the promotional work Minho had done for her company. The event was nothing short of spectacular, with an international DJ playing all the favourite tunes, and the atmosphere was electric.

As Nabi looked around the room, her eyes were drawn to Lee Soo Hyuk, who looked absolutely stunning in a black and gold Versace suit paired with black Versace loafers. He wore an alluring smile, and Nabi knew that tonight was going to be a night to remember. She welcomed the idea of getting lucky with the man she still held a deep connection with.

Soo Hyuk approached her with that devilish smile, handing her a glass of champagne and placing a soft kiss on her exposed shoulder. Nabi, dressed in a spaghetti strap open-back gold dress that hugged her every curve, felt a surge of confidence. Her slick high ponytail and nude-coloured sandal heels completed her look, making her the epitome of allure and beauty. With her golden tan from a recent holiday, she resembled Aphrodite herself.

As Nabi and Soo Hyuk flirted and enjoyed each other's company, she couldn't help but sense a burning gaze in her peripheral vision. Turning her head subtly, she confirmed her suspicions—Minho and Sooya were watching them from afar.

Their presence cast a shadow over the night, and Nabi couldn't help but wonder what thoughts were running through their minds as they observed her and Soo Hyuk. It was a complex and unexpected twist in the narrative of her life, one that she knew she could have a lot of fun with.

As Minho and Sooya watched Nabi and Soo Hyuk from afar, Nabi began to feel a bit tipsy and, admittedly, petty. Her desire to make Minho and Sooya regret their past actions grew stronger, especially toward Sooya, who had betrayed her so long ago. Nabi saw Sooya as someone pitiful, a person who clung to Minho even though their relationship had supposedly ended in middle school. Key had confirmed that Minho and Sooya hadn't dated since those days, but she remained a constant presence in his life, a shadow he couldn't seem to shake.

In a moment of audacity, Nabi turned to face Minho and winked at him. Suddenly, realisation struck Minho like a lightning bolt. He finally recognized her as the girl he had loved in middle school, the one who had disappeared from his life all those years ago. He couldn't fathom how he hadn't recognized those hazel eyes when they first met in her office.

Determined to approach her, Minho decided to take a step closer, and Sooya followed suit. Soo Hyuk, noticing their approach, wrapped his arm around Nabi's waist as a sign of possession. Soo Hyuk acknowledged the couple and introduced himself, while Nabi casually inquired if they were enjoying the party.

The DJ then played "4 Walls" by Vedo, and Soo Hyuk wasted no time pulling Nabi onto the dance floor. Minho, however, couldn't hide the jealousy that washed over him. He desperately wanted to get closer to Nabi, to talk to her and perhaps rekindle their connection.

Sooya, sensing Minho's distraction, attempted to grab his attention, but he pushed her away, his focus solely on Nabi and Soo Hyuk. As Nabi whispered something seductive into Soo Hyuk's ear, just loud enough for Minho to hear, he felt his heart sink. The wave of jealousy that washed over him was undeniable, and he knew he couldn't let Nabi slip through his fingers again.

As Sooya watched Minho's reaction and heard his revelation about Nabi's true identity, a wave of shock washed over her. She had believed that Nabi had died, and now, seeing her alive and thriving, she felt a rush of guilt. Sooya had spent years hiding the truth about what had happened all those years ago, desperately trying to keep Minho away from Nabi. She had gone to great lengths to maintain the deception, and now it was all unravelling before her eyes.

Nabi, however, was fully aware of who Minho and Sooya were, and she relished the opportunity for revenge. Her plan was just beginning to unfold, and she was prepared to make them pay for the pain they had caused her in the past.
