This will be the first story I've posted on here. I've never really written anything of this genre so bear with me. Enjoy!

-------

Angels, supernatural winged creatures that have lived on earth for as long as it was created. They looked like humans, talked like human and lived with humans. The only difference is the fact that they had powers that people could only dream of.

They were, however, hunted down by other supernatural beings, all wanting a taste of their power and purity. Another being, however, kept other creatures at bay, they were called Guardians.

Guardians have been protecting and serving Angels since they were created. They are bound together, never to be apart for long and when one died, the other would die not long after.

This story, however, takes place in the upper class community, home to, oddly enough, all the Angels.

And it all begins with one certain Angel.

Two years before:

The young girl cursed silently as an older boy entered from her now open window. She shifted slightly in her seat on the soft desk chair and patted her waist length, black hair down.

"Why are you here Gabriel?" The young billionaire hissed lowly, her violet eyes not lifting from the biology text book in front of her. Her hand, however, tightened significantly around the pen in her hand, which was now furiously taking down notes.

"Why I'm just here to visit my Angel, the one and only Aeron Zero." He said in mock politeness. "Who can show me more gratitude for risking my life day by day.

"I mean," he said, motioning with his hand, "without me, who would keep all the bad monsters away."

"How many times do I need to tell you," Aeron said, turning around and pointing at his figure with her pen, "that I don't need a Guardian.

"Now, it's my birthday today, and I don't want you at the party." The finality in her tone didn't faze her Guardian at all, however.

"That just gives me a bigger reason to why I have to be there. You being in a room full of snobby, rich people you only want you out of their way is almost as dangerous as the fact that you are more targeted by other creatures now!" He exclaimed, leaning on the wall behind him tiredly.

Gabriel White, a sixteen year old high school student, was absolutely gorgeous. Brown hair that slightly brushed his shoulders, dark brown eyes, and somewhat pale skin. He had an elegant aura that made people comfortable yet insecure around him. Suffice to say, Gabriel easily stood out in a crowd.

"I don't need your protection." Aeron said coolly, unaffected by his sudden outburst.

"Well then," Gabriel said, fed up by Aeron's usual emotionless attitude, "I won't be there."

"Good," she said blankly.

"If you'd excuse me," Aeron stood up casually, turning towards the door, "I have to help organize the party."

And with that she left, not at all caring to see if Gabriel would leave or not. With a sigh, the Guardian hoisted himself over her windowsill, closing the window in the process, and dropped two stories down.

Aeron Zero smiled falsely at the guest asking for her attention. Her birthday celebration was slowly reaching its climax and saying that she was relieved would be an understatement. Most people would be happy to be celebrating their sixteenth birthday, but Aeron just couldn't bring herself to enjoy this damned day.

Aeron tugged on the ends of her hair absentmindedly, barely listening to the person in front of her. Aeron Zero, although bored and tired, looked elegant wearing a knee length black dress and flats. Her waist length black hair, which contrasted with her fairly pale complexion, was only held back by a black headband. Unusual violet eyes shone brightly under the light of the chandelier, stunning everyone into a brief moment of silence upon seeing her.

Aeron excused herself, feeling rather squeamish under all the attention. She walked out slowly wobbling a bit. Luckily, no one got in her way as she exited the grand ballroom into the dimly lit hallway.

Aeron wandered around the halls of her mansion mindlessly, not particularly going anywhere. She played with the hem of her dress, suddenly feeling a chill run up her spine. Someone was watching her, she could just tell. Her left hand hovered over the silver bracelet on her right hand cautiously.

Before she could summon her sword however a callous hand clamped over her mouth, muffling the surprised scream that left it. She felt something cold and metallic press onto the side of her head. Panic threatened to overcome her thoughts but she kept it at bay, now wasn't the time to think irrationally.

"Aeron Zero," a gruff male voice whispered into her ear tauntingly, "I'm not going to lie, I assumed you were a boy. But your guests were happy enough to clear that up for me. You know, you shou-"

His lecture was cut off when Aeron slapped her hand over her bracelet summoning her long Japanese sword instantly. She swung wildly putting some distance between herself and her assailant, who didn't seemed fazed by the fact that she was now armed.

He only smiled at Aeron, know that he had the upper hand in this situation. Her mind thought up many outcomes, none of which had a good ending for her.

"They say you have the best security in the city, and yet it was easy to get in here." The man boasted, "My master would be so happy to have you dead." He grinned smugly. "Any last words?"

Aeron only tightened her grip around her sword, knowing that she either had to transform or die. She knew what she had to do.

Her violet eyes started to glow, like flames, she felt a sudden surge of power. The transformation wasn't complete, however.

She stepped closer to the man in front of her, unafraid. His hand remained steady, not seeing much of a difference.

The man pulled the trigger, a gust of wind blew past Aeron and her eyes widened.

Gabriel stood, in all his glory, his hand over the gun's muzzle. He looked straight at Aeron. "Why do you always attract danger?"

"Wh-what are you doing here?" She demanded, eyes already returning to their normal violet color.

"I wasn't at your party," Gabriel explained. "I was watching from outside."

Aeron simply stared, eyes wide, mouth hanging slightly open, unable to form words. The bullet fell down on the carpeted floor covered in Gabriel's blood.

He turned towards the shooter, "I can't let you go after attempting to kill my Angel, can I?"

The man let out a shaky breath, "Th-that's impossible! You weren't here a moment ago! That's just not human!"

"Well, technically, I'm not fully a human," Gabriel said matter-of-factly.

"Now," he said, smiling almost evilly, and eyes glowing a bright garnet,  "how should I punish you?"

---

"You know you should really be more careful," Gabriel said after he and Aeron retreated into Aeron's room, they both sat on Aeron's bed as she bandaged the wound on his hand, "you were just lucky that I didn't listen to you."

"I could take care of myself." The young billionaire said stubbornly.

"Really?" Gabriel asked sarcastically. "So you were going to transform, grab all your guests' attention and have your true identity known?"

Aeron stayed silent and Gabriel knew he was right.

"You shouldn't have done that." She stated, breaking the silence. "You shouldn't have stopped the bullet with your hand."

Gabriel smiled at her warmly, "It's my duty to protect you. It's the reason for my existence."

"You know," Aeron looked up at him, finished with his hand, "you are a complete masochist at times."
