Sorry for the late update, I have five projects to finish. So sorry.

Aeron pushed a stray strand of hair away before knocking on the door of Gabriel’s apartment again.

She heard a muffled “I’m coming!” along with a few crashes followed by a colourful string of curses.

The door opened, revealing a bedraggled Gabriel. The guardian’s hair was sticking up all over the place and he was still in sleepwear, primarily consisting of a wrinkled white shirt and sweatpants.

“What do you want?” Gabriel said rather sharply. “It’s two in the morning.”

Aeron looked up at her guardian in disdain. “We need to go.” Was her only reply.

“Where?”

“The airport,” she replied, kicking the luggage bag at her feet as if to prove this. “Clause called, the opening of the new hotel was moved to an earlier date.”

Gabriel stared at the teen for a moment, his mind still foggy from sleep even if he just did so for luxury.

“Wait a minute.” He said, excusing himself. Before Aeron could reply, the door was slammed in front of her face. The Angel stared open mouthed at the door for a few minutes and by the time she could process what the demon had done, he was already dressed and out of his apartment.

She quickly gathered her bearings before grabbing her bag and walking towards the inconspicuous, black limo waiting in front of the building.

The flight was a long one and by the time Aeron got to their destination, she was beat. Photographers and journalists gathered around the airport’s exit, however, forcing the jetlagged teen to smile and look professional.

They couldn’t waste any time so Aeron was immediately surrounded by a flurry of make-up artists ––making her cough as powder flew everywhere –– and designers upon arriving at the site. Gabriel, in the meantime, decided to lay low and stay at least ten feet away from a brush.

This is so exhausting, Aeron thought to herself as she stepped on the podium.

“Good evening, everyone.” She greeted. “Zero Inc. is proud to present our newest hotel.”

She lazily droned on. “We do hope you’ll enjoy your stay.”

Gabriel’s palm acquainted itself with his forehead as Aeron walked off with a flippant turn of her heel.

She may be one of the youngest billionaires in the world. She may be a supernatural creature capable of doing things no other human could. She may be one of the smartest people in the country. At that moment, Gabriel didn’t care. That speech was pathetic.

The lousy speech, it seemed, satisfied the crowd of people at least and cheers followed the teenager’s exit.

Mr Clause, the spokesperson for this branch, luckily stood on the podium before answering the questions of disappointed reporters who were hoping to get a word from the owner herself.

“Lovely speech you had back there.” Gabriel told his Angel sarcastically before setting the tray of fast food on their table. Aeron had insisted that it was more unsuspecting if they ate in a low-class restaurant and Gabriel agreed, like always.

The other merely popped a fry into her mouth. “Thanks.”

“I was sarca––“

“I know.”

Aeron grabbed another fry before speaking again. “When are we going back?”

Gabriel rolled his eyes at the exasperated tone in her voice, before eating a spoonful of his food. As much as Aeron wanted to sound like she didn’t care, he knew the other was just homesick. “The jet will be ready to leave in a few hours.”

Aeron sighed. “It’s too noisy here.”

Gabriel snorted at the poor attempt of saying I want to go home. “At least those four aren’t here.”

“Hmm,” Aeron hummed, “I guess you have a point.”

They lapsed into a comfortable silence before Aeron spo
